    K'naan... best concert ever.

by Jaslyn on 2010-10-17Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

This was my second K'naan show, and it was mind blowing. Despite explaining in a lecture at UBC the day prior to the concert that he was feeling drained and in need of a break, his energy built over the course of the show because of how excited the audience was. Malkin bowl is an open air venue, and just as K'naan came on, the clouds opened and we got soaked. Nothing could compare to the greatness of dancing in the rain with K'naan. He was just so intimate and genuinely happy to be with us sharing his story. I will never forget that experience.

    K'Naan Webster Hall, NY

by Skymum on 2010-10-12Webster Hall - New York

Fabulous show. K'Naan was excellent - very intimate, talked to the audience about teh songs and albums. Laid back for some songs and then completely wired for others. Great night out. Loved that I could go with my 16 year old and we weren't pushed to one side for non-drinking as we designate in Canada.

    K'Naan does it Again

by Simplesam on 2010-10-10Kool Haus - Toronto

I believe this was my 4th K'Naan show and every time he is a great performer. Due to his huge success with the world cup and Wavin' Flag, this show attracted a larger audience from 6 to 60 year olds as well as CBC . Overall good performance!! Arrived late but wish I caught Shad who is a great Canadian Artist as well. K'Naan said he is one of his favourties!

    K'Naan-Very good

by messhy on 2010-10-04Kool Haus - Toronto

K'Naan brought a lot of energy to the show. He was very interactive with the crowd-and wanted to make sure that we were happy. The one thing he did that I have never seen done before is that he told everyone that he would be signing autographs after in front of his bus-not just everybody does that, I was very impressed. I also liked how he rapped about his live-and every song he had told a story. Great show.

    K'naan was EPIC!!!

    by Angedel89 on 2010-10-03Kool Haus - Toronto

K'naan was absolutely amazing! It was my third time seeing him and each time is better! He puts so much passion into his performances, it makes it that much more enjoyable. Unforgettable concert! So humble of him to have an autograph signing at the end of his show as well. He is such an amazing person! So grateful I got to see him in concert again, and finally get his autograph!

K'naan's music's superb, but not his chat...

by Pablo59 on 2010-10-03Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

I payed K'naan to be entertained by him, and it worked...mostly! In fact, I paid for 5 tickets, because my family all really enjoys K'naan's music and his intelligent and insightful lyrics. K'naan's style of hiphop attracts even my wife and I, who are both 50. Yes, the music was great, as was the sound-mixing at the B.C. Theatre in Winnipeg (which doesn't always happen). However, I can sure do without the popular city and crowd bashing and manipulation, that seems to happen at many concerts these days, when we are asked to answer or respond to questions like, "are you having a good time yet?...I can't hear you...Winnipeg, you're disappointing me; last time you were much louder!" and that sort of crap. Sorry, I paid you to entertain me. I'm not here to entertain you or be loud to feed your energy. I'm paying you piles of money to professionally entertain me. It reminds me of church, where some preacher wants me to wave my arms or say this or that and if I don't do it, I'm somehow not as spiritual as the next guy. That's why I don't go. No, leave that stuff out of the concert, is my opinion or I'll stop going there, too. I'm there to enjoy the music and the lyrics and I don't need to be manipulated and told to get louder while being told I'm not good enough. In fact, the more that happens, the quieter I get. Ask any teen who is being compared to his proper or more well-behaved sibbling if that's a good strategy coming from a parent. Even my 17, 19 and 21 year old daughters were offended by K'naan's dissing of Winnipeg and us - the audience. Unfortunately, so much of it intensified as we got to the final songs, so this is what I most remember and that's unfortunate. When musicians resort to that adolescent approach of exciting an audience, I am insulted. Just shut up between songs, or say only intelligent things if you're going to speak, and sing the songs that have made you so famous. That's why we're there. Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler have a lot to teach some of the young artists of today - as the artist, you can be fairly quiet and even appreciative between songs (Dylan isn't always that, mind you) and still perform the best concert your audience is going to hear (and pay big bucks for!).

    I had a BLAST!!!!

by Kiah on 2010-10-03Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

Wow. I had so much fun dancing to both The Lytics and K'naan! It was a great evening for a Wednesday. I'm so glad I had the time to go see K'naan. I was so happy when he sang "Take A Minute" and "Wavin' Flag!!!"
