KAMELOT IN CONCERT:

Power metal band Kamelot offers ticket buyers a theatrical, high-octane live experience that always gets fans’ hearts pounding. Audiences love Tommy Karevik’s mystical lyrics and soaring vocals, especially since he often invites them to sing along with his epic songs. Kamelot’s virtuosic musicianship provides a solid foundation for their majestic tunes, and guitarist Thomas Youngblood is sure to have heads banging with his pummeling, shred-filled leads. Throw in the thunderous, rapid-fire drumming of Casey Grillo and you have the recipe for an unforgettable live show. Kamelot has taken all their power and passion and poured it into their 2015 North American Tour, giving audiences a chance to see this thrilling visual and auditory spectacle for themselves.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Tampa, Florida, in 1991 by guitarist Thomas Youngblood and drummer Richard Warner, Kamelot has delivered classic metal to the masses for nearly two decades. When singer Roy Kahn joined the band in 1998, he helped the band achieve a new level of success with the album Siege Perilous. In 2005 the band taped their first music videos for the songs “March of Mephisto” and “The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)”, two standouts from the album Black Halo. With the release of Poetry for the Poisoned in 2010, the band made its first chart appearance in the US. They followed up with Silverthorn two years later, experiencing similar commercial success while also introducing new vocalist Tommy Karevik to the masses. Their 2015 album Haven continues the band’s hot streak and delivers the same epic story-telling and heavy metal virtuosity that have made them a favorite of metal fans all over the world.

Pity Battle Beast and Xandria were wasted

    by PP on 2023-08-27

I know the sound crew for Battle Beast are too good to have purposely set up the horrific sound for the vocalist. If it wasn't for the immense power and quality of Noora's voice, it would have been a fiasco. Xandria couldnt pull it off, as Battle Beast did. Such a shame. Funny part, the sound was perfectly set up for Kamelot. Only logical conclusion, is that the sound was purposely screwed by... make a guess. Also, the stage is already small, and having half of it wasted for half the show, was a huge disappointing. Battle Beast had 4 musicians, a drummer and the singer, all performing shoulder to shoulder, because of that wasted stage.

Excellente soirée. Le son était était un peu moins bon (trop fort ?) pour Kamelot que pour Xandria et Battle Beast, mais le show était très bon pareil.

Kamelot? I sure came a lot

    by Phien on 2023-08-24

Xandria, Battle Beast AND Kamelot??? Sign me tf up Overall great experience But the drums were wayyy too loud to the point of drowning out everything else… Also giving Xandria a measly 30 minutes in the beginning is a crime Still had plenty of fun tho and I don’t regret going at all :))

Great show, but didn't feel authentic

    by Hammer1080 on 2015-05-05Métropolis - Montreal

I love Kamelot and I know they have always aimed to put on a glossy, flashy stage show, which they most certainly did in Montreal. It's a very slick show and they played all hits. My feeling though is that they are sacrificing some musical integrity in favour of 'party tricks' like Tommy reaching over the guitarist or bassists shoulder and 'playing' the instrument. Thomas also spends a lot of time with only one hand on the guitar but it never seems like the guitar misses a note. Bass player jumping around like he wants to be in KoRn. Maybe Makes me think they rely heavily on instrumental tracks to facilitate this sort of thing instead of truly playing. This is the trend of pop music, and sure it makes for a great flashy entertaining show but it doesn't feel authentic - hence my review title. Either way, the new album songs sound great, Casey is amazing on the drums as usual, and Tommy sounds great, even if heavily supported by a track.
