    Katie sings like an angel

by Admirer on 2009-07-19Bronson Centre - Ottawa

My girlfriend and I are great fans of Katie Melua. We did come away a little disappointed . Most of this was due to the timing of the venue. The tickets were sold as General admission ..19:00. So we were at the Bronson Centre at 18:30 with the intention of getting a good seat, which we did. After a so so openig act by a local singer and then him selling his CD after his show, Katie did not come on to sing till 21:00. A very long wait from 18:30 ! Katie (without any other musicians ) sang beautifully for about (not more) one hour and only for one song for the encore. A more organized venue, a shorter opening act and more of Katie would have been accpetd by many present

She has an amazingly beautiful voice. It would have been so much better with a band!

    Katie deserved better place

by bizzi on 2009-07-13Bronson Centre - Ottawa

I attended Katie Melua's concert. I am her fun and I enjoyed that concert. I even met her afterwards and I got autograph. So generally I was happy. But I wasn't happy about place. That Bronson Centre is not the best place. And I think Katie deserved better concert hall to perform.

    Katie Melua

by Tatra on 2009-07-12Bronson Centre - Ottawa

This solo concert by Katie was at a great venue, very small hall but with good seating and excellent sound. Katie was in good voice and played piano for a quite a few numbers, most of her better known hits and a few from her latest album. Look forward to her coming to Ottawa with her full band in the future, but it was great to see her in this kind of venue.

Katie Melua: Like fresh roses after summer rain

by Musicman on 2009-07-12Bronson Centre - Ottawa

Katie Melua played this show by herself (no band), it was great. Her voice is just right, not too soft and not harsh. The music is classy, light (compared to some), but appealing to everyone. It is a refreshing experience to realize some folks are still making music that is pleasant to listen to. Katie has a easy to like personality. Keep the music coming!

    Katie Wows Them

by Marty on 2009-07-12Bronson Centre - Ottawa

On the positive side: Wonderful singer - she has a great voice. Only wished her performance was longer! Opening act was good but it went on a little long.. On the negative side: Terrible organization.... suppose to start at 7pm - long delay before getting in even though we had reserved tickets. Then another delay after getting seated. Show didn't start until at least 8:30. Then another long delay after the opening act. Finally Katie comes on long after the announced time.

    Katie Melua at Bronson Centre

by hardmuz on 2009-07-12Bronson Centre - Ottawa

Katie start the show with Kozmic Blues from Janis Joplin, a real good start to announce what will be the evening. After it was like a dream, the show was all Excellent. And it was a real "solo" concert. she made a 2 or 3 block songs to change from guitar to piano. Acoustic was real good in this venue, but also normal if you consider that there can't be too much sounds to waste the voice of the singer (only 1 instrument at the time per song). So, A very PURE and INTIMATE show, the singer and her guitar or piano. But also a well balanced show, nothing boring at all if you consider the simplicity of the setup. It was really like she was singing for each of us individually. I hope that we will have a recording from that tour, because it was a new way to listen to those great songs and they were all good even if not full band.

Katie was better than I tough.

by notmyrealname on 2009-07-12Bronson Centre - Ottawa

I knew she was good, but her live performance, solo, was even better than the albums. Her voice was just out of this world, if you like it on CD, you will love her voice even more live. the highs and lows were breathtaking. and you could feel the vibration and emotion. she's also a great guitar player, and she played some piano. The hall was just small enough that you felt she was playing just for you in private.

    Katie Melua has real talent

by Sarah on 2009-07-12Bronson Centre - Ottawa

Katie Melua's May concert in Ottawa was not held, unfortunately, in the best of locations. I felt I was at a high school or university event during the long wait in the lineup outside and then sitting in the auditorium, but all was forgotten the moment Miss Melua began to sing. She has what I consider to be a beautiful and most interesting voice and it was encouraging to hear it live on stage. The beautiful sounds on her CDs are obviously not a result of technical wizardry. Just one girl and one guitar made for lovely music. I enjoyed and appreciated her modest way of speaking and her explanations of some of the songwriting. There is obviously a good mind to go along with the singing talent. A very enjoyable concert.
