About

Since the age of fourteen, when he first began to DJ and when his brother introduced him to music production software, his output has been relentless. He explains, "after he showed me the basics, from that day on I couldn't stop making beats," pumping out a handful of tracks per day for the next couple of years. Single releases like "Drive Me Crazy" with Vic Mensa and "Leave Me Alone" with Shay Lia soon spread his name like wildfire. With their release,KAYTRANADA cemented his reputation and his sound; an undeniable swing of the drums comparable to Dilla's, a signature soulful touch in the melodies, and a healthy dose of funky bass lines.

99.9% continues that tradition, and new track "BUS RIDE," which features acclaimed percussionist/producer Karriem Riggins as well as rising Toronto vocalist River Tiber, demonstrates that KAYTRANADA has stayed within his canon while demonstrating growth on the new album.

The show brought out the best of the crowd & Kaytranda!

by Casey on 2023-12-31History - Toronto

What can I say about the show? First time seeing Kaytranada…check! Good music…check! Good fun…check! Good vibes…check, check and check! I missed the first opening act (Karim), but I was able to see Lou Phelps. He warmed up the crowd with great mix of music. Kaytranada was a joy to watch and experience. I was dancing the whole night (along with the crowd) and the fact Kay was vibing and dancing as well helped to created a really great atmosphere. If you are able to see him live…do it. You will leave the show feeling good and wanting more.

    Unbearably hot

by SP on 2023-12-30History - Toronto

Let me start by saying that Kaytranada was amazing and put on a great show. However, the venue was unbearably hot and sweaty. Also, it would have been nice if the set list had been released prior to the event as Kaytranada went on a lot later than expected. There were two opening acts beforehand and by the time he came on everyone was tired of standing.

    Good except the opening

by AP on 2023-12-30History - Toronto

Kaytranada was AWESOME but doors were supposed to open at 7, then it was changed to 8. Then he had 2 people open the show…Kaytranada didn’t actually come on stage until 11:30. It was exhausting standing in line, then standing for 3 and a half hours for the two opening gigs, then another 2 hours for the actual concert. Mind you this is on a Wednesday night when we all had work the next day. Opening for a concert shouldn’t take longer than an hour and def not 3 1/2 hours.

Kaytra always delivers. Although Danforth isn't really appropriate as they require all shows to end pretty early, it's great to see this guy moving to bigger venues
