About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

    Great evening

by PaulTQ on 2014-07-15Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Outstanding show by the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. Great musicians going back to their blues rock roots - Kenny himself is a brilliant guitarist and is joined in this tour by a power house rhythm section in Tony Franklin (ex the Firm, with Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers) and Chris Layton (ex Double Trouble, with Stevie Ray Vaughan). Strong vocals from Noah Hunt, and twinkling keyboards from session man Riley Osbourn made this a tight and entertaining set. The Deerfoot Inn and Casino is a perfect venue for this type of show - quite intimate, and like a blues club. Good buffet before the show too!

Amazing One of the best guitar players around

    by Jeremy1955 on 2014-07-15Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

KENNY WAYNE SHEPARD was amazing. The chrome room at the Deerfoot casino has great accostics and the small venue made for no bad seat in the house. He played for about an hour and a half no breaks. He is a guitar god, Stevie ray Vaughn would be very proud. 10/10 five star performance. The only issue is there was no merchandise sold. Thanks for a specular night of blues rock and fun.

    Another fantastic night of blues

    by ZZFan13579 on 2014-07-15Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Saw the band at the Calgary Blues Festival a couple of years ago - if anything, the band is even better in a smaller venue. Excellent show, fantastic sound, and a tour through their best material and the latest album. Nothing better on a Saturday night than screaming hot guitar licks and great vocals. Outstanding.

    Sound mix was brutal

by Specracer on 2014-06-25Mainstage Marquee at Nathan Phillips Square - Toronto

Opening band was great...energized and enjoying their gig Kenny Wayne is an extremely talented guitarist although I found his guitar overpowering and piercing to listen to. He had a great lead singer but chose to overpower him with these long obtuse guitar solos and his own weak vocals. The line between jazz and rock was definately crossed over at points and that's cool as long as the music doesn't overpower venue which it did. We had to stand outside tent and saw others leave and did mention it to sound guy Meanwhile saw Snarky Puppy which was incredible BAND but the wrong venue. Soany people so hot and no view of band but what a great band !!!
