Ju Ju music rocks!!! The vocal are wonderful, the talking drums were amazing. To have a person dedicated to shakere is amazing: it's hard to believe such a seemingly insiginificant instrument can hold so much power in the mix. It was a percussion lovers dream. King Sunny seems ageless. What a fabulous performance. Too bad the Jubilee doesn't accomodate dancing!!
This was an excellent concert and everyone was well entertained.
No wonder he's called the King of African Beats. The guitar, the drums the vocals and especially the foot work are all remarkable after decades in the business, It was a treat to see and dance along with King Sunny Ade and His African Beats.
King Sunny has not lost his touch but I was disappointed that none of his earlier music was performed. I found his new stuff to be quite repetitive with few real moments where you wanted to get up and dance. Met a friend from Banff who was celebrating her 50th and had hoped that she would have heard some of his earlier stuff which is by far superior to the new tunes...just me I guess.
