    Outstanding

by Kyussed on 2011-12-01The Starlite Room - Edmonton

The sheer talent of the musicians at this show was unbelievable, including the opening acts Black Cobra and The Sword. Kyuss Lives killed it. The venue was not big enough to contain this power.

    Kyuss Lives - Balls Out

by gumpy on 2011-12-01The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

I can confirm that the reformed Kyuss put on an awesome show. There's nothing flashy about their stage performance and the bulk of the members are no longer spring chickens - but they pounded out song after song with very minimal breaks in between and almost no talking between themselves or the audience. Song execution was great - I don't know their full catalogue - but every song I recognized sounded pretty much identical to the cd. Highly recommend. The Sword hauled-a** as well. I'd heard a couple songs by them prior to the concert, but the concert confirmed they've got lots of heavy songs with catchy hooks and a great blend of retro sound with some new elements - I'd lump them and Priestess into a similar category - though there's no confusing the two either. I'd definitely be up for seeing them again. I didn't know the first band Black Cobra beforehand. If I have ever left a performance feeling like I had been completely pummeled it was by them. Not my favourite music, but you gotta appreciate a band with only two guys leaving it all out on stage - blitzkrieging through a set - rarely a moment without the double bass drum beating you down with 32 notes and hands a blur of fills and cymbal smashes.

by Nineteen on 2011-12-01The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

I thought The Sword played an unbelievable set......and then Kyuss blew the roof off the place. If you want to hear some killer vocals and an all around awesome show, get tickets for Kyuss. You won't be sorry.

    Kyuss Yarks Up Super Show

by Thunderstruckbassist on 2011-12-01The Starlite Room - Edmonton

I have been waiting to see this show for 16 years. Kyuss are a formative part of my psyche. From the opening strains of "Gardenia" to the final note of "Green Machine" my mind was blown. They were note-perfect, adding just the right touch of improvisation to the familiar songs about space battles and stonerism. John Garcia's voice was right on. He was concentrating so hard and staring out over the heads of the audience, but when he could take a moment to appreciate the fans, he was all smiles. The band was a perfect blend of melodic grooves and punishing low-end wash of noise-boogie. It was a bit hard to hear the articulation of the bass guitar, but the overall feeling was exactly how i had hoped.

    KYUSS NOT DEAD!!!

by Doogie420 on 2011-11-30The Starlite Room - Edmonton

KYUSS LIVES! was unbelievable. The line-up could only have been better with Josh Homme on guitar. By far an epic show, the sound quality was awesome and the songs played were rad.

    What not to like?

by ChickenHat on 2011-11-29The Starlite Room - Edmonton

The opening bands (Black Cobra and The Sword) had amazing performances. I was surprised how full the sound Black Cobra had being only a two piece. The Sword had Lots of bass that made it hard to hear the lyrics, but at a metal concert I don't thing anyone rely cared, they did get the crowd in a good mosh pit and some good head banging. Kyuss being the main act was the heart of the show, had a good size mosh pit going but everyone was friendly and if you hit the floor expect at least 5 hands getting you back up and into action. Kyuss's sound was good and you could hear every instrument and the vocals were quite clear, but the singer kept disappearing without notice (I thought it was a concert not a magic show). The Venue (The Starlit Room) had good floor space and beer everywhere. The staff was good even with the large crowd, security was in the mosh pit keeping it fun and making sure no one got hurt. The only problem with the floor was a large slope descending from the stage made it hard to view from the back, because it made everyone in front of you even taller. I would defiantly go to another show there.

What a great collection of sweet bands. Too drunk to make a good review. Wouldn't be typing if I wasn't happy.

    John Garcia still has it

by mingemouth on 2011-09-20Guelph Concert Theatre - Guelph

Kyuss lives was amazing. They sounded as if they are in their prime. Even with Josh not there and his guitar tone not quite nailed. The songs were played very well. I had abdominal surgery the previous tuesday evening and in all my discomfort it was still worth going and catching them out in Guelph. Hope they come back

    Great show but...

    by PAL1 on 2011-09-18Sound Academy - Toronto

Kyuss was perfect. Belgian guitarist Bruno Faverey was awesome. Garcia bang on as were the rest of the band. Glad they're back. MonstrO and The Sword are well worth seeing if you get a chance. Their (openers) shows were about a half hour but that's just the deal with 3 bands. Toronto did leave a marred image though. There were about 40 people in attendance who I believe must have been recently lobotomized. Just acting like lower primates. Kyuss had to stop playing at one point. Fights broke out. A couple stooges decided to throw full beers at John Garcia and earlier at The Swords guitarist. Very smooth. Why did you go dude ? Stay home next time time with your goldfish friend. Too bad instead of checking for I.D. they don't check for I.Q. Aside from the knucledraggers who can't handle their alcohol, if you ever get a chance to see any of these bands, do it.
