I always enjoy it, but it's too long

by Anonymous on 2017-06-06Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

We've been attending this recital for years. I always enjoy it, but even split into 3 shows, it's too long (3+ hours). I would suggest moving Hip Hop to a show of its own. Far too many Hip Hop routines, and they don't jive well with the other genres. I would also suggest removing the solos. Why not have Competitive Team group performances, rather than giving the opportunity to only one child? Have each pre-school class perform only one routine (even if slightly longer), instead of two. Just like all the other age groups. Although a challenge for scheduling, I would appreciate more of a mix of ages in the 9:30am show (mostly 6 years & under). Maybe next year we'll finally make it into an "older" kid show! The 9:30am show also missed the raved-about "dads only" act.

    Recital 2016

by Annoymous12 on 2016-05-29Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

The 2016 recital was truly special. Every year it is so exciting to come watch all the performances and every year it gets better and better. The solos and duos apparently had their own recital so its too bad I didn't get to see those but I know other people didn't enjoy the long recital. Although I didn't mind sitting through the long recitals this year the shows were only 2 hours and it was 2 hours of pure talent. Every group looked so professional on stage with hair and wardrobe all matched. The music selections were so wonderful. Technique was amazing and the students clearly brought their choreographers visions to life. I teared at all the ballet and lyrical performances, they wer just beautiful. On the other hand hip hop was so thrilling. All the pieces were exciting and it made everyone want to just cheer them on and dance with them. New this year they brought in acro and aerial performances and all I can say is WOW! It looked like cirque du solell up there. Bravo on the courgage of those students for hanging onto those silks, I know I couldn't do it! Last but not least the Wizard of oz musical theatre piece at the end was amazing. My mother and I literally cried watching dorthy. The student who played the lion was really good too. All in all an amazing rectial. The staff at LADA are amazing. Always friendly and so organized. Not only do they share their passion for dance but they clearly care about our children. Big congrats on a wonderful show!

Every year I am absolutely amazed at how oraganized the LADA shows are. Coming from another studio 4 years ago I can definately see the difference that the amazing staff at LADA makes. All the dances were beautiful and the students are so talented. Always so positive and friendly.

    LA Dance Recital

by CharlieChaplin on 2015-05-20Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Enjoyed the whole performance, but I have to admit I enjoyed my granddaughter's dance the most. The kids are amazing, they do so well. Hats off to the dance teachers for their time and effort all year. The costumes were wonderful as well.

    LA Dance Academy

by ajax19 on 2015-05-19Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Overall the recital was good. Found it to be too long (almost 4 hours). Had to plug the meter 3 times. Found that there were too many "solos" and "duos".

LA Dance Recital was a disappointment this year!

by Averycon on 2014-05-27Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

I was very disappointed in the recital this year, I did not bring as many people to watch because of the $22 fee per ticket and I am glad I didn't. The ones that did come were disappointed as well and felt it was a waste of a beautiful day. I have been going to the LA Dance recitals for over ten years now. Last year was great, this year sucked! Music was bad, dances were boring, costumes were ugly.I don't think my daughter will be going back next year!Boring. Boring. Boring.

    Excellent Student Performances!

    by Scarlett73 on 2013-06-15Concert Hall - Winnipeg

The shows are too long, and going from 2 numbers per class, to 1 obviously has not helped. And while the teacher performance was indeed fun, by the time you get to the end, it is just such a waste of time. I think all the dancers - all ages! - were great! You can see the pride they take in the dancing and how hard they have worked all year long. Anybody who comes on here and puts them down, obviously has no class! Who would insult students? Uncalled for! Good job to all the dancers!
