    Magical Mystery Journey

by SinanLosho on 2017-11-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The concert was a memorable night. The band consists of 5 members. Four that resembled the members of the Beatles, and one additional brilliant keyboards player in the background. They took us on a historical Beatles journey from the Cavern, to the Ed Sullivan Show, to Shea Stadium, to Sgt. Peppers, to Let is Be and Abbey Road. That's when the first half was finished. We were elated, but confused, are they going to go back in time and cover the other concerts, movies, and albums in the second half? Instead, they did something magical. The asked us to imagine if the Beatles had reunited for John Lennon's 40th birthday (1980, just before his death). What followed was a beautiful sequence of each members' post-Beatles hits, played by the whole band, as well as more Beatles hits. A truly wonderful show. I would attend it again and again.

A Rocking Night Into The Past

by Dick51 on 2017-11-11Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

If you love the Beatles or you just wish to see a great performance - check it out. Well worth the money......especially when the group played the solo songs of the Fab 4 that were big hits after the 1970 break up. If only it could have been in reality.....this was the next best thing!

Let It Be - Fun show!

by KeroseneHat on 2017-11-11Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I have seen many Beatles tribute bands/shows starting with the original Beatlemania touring show that came to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre back in the late 1970s. This show was very good, but lacked the high production values that the original Beatlemania show had. The musician-ship was very good. The first half of the show went through the various phases of the Beatles (eg. Ed Sullivan, Shea Stadium, Sgt. Peppers, and Abbey Road) with costume changes (including wigs) for the various looks. During the costume changes the curtain would come down and we were shown videos and sound on two make-believe "television" screens on either side of the stage. The images were of the 1960's (eg. peace marches, Vietnam war, hippies, etc). This part of the presentation was a bit awkward and kind of low-budget for a show of this magnitude. I think they could have handled these transitions better! The show really took off after the intermission. During the second half we were presented with a what-if scenario. What if the Beatles had re-united in 1980 and held a concert. They played a mix of Beatles songs from various periods as well as John, Paul, George, and even Ringo solo songs from the 70's. (Eg. Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, My Sweet Lord, Imagine, Watching the wheels, It Don't come easy). Overall it was a good show and I enjoyed it. The crowd was a little subdued, though ... maybe because it was a weeknight? The band continually tried to get people to clap and stand up.

"Let It Be" didn't live up to expectations

by Vancouver7 on 2017-11-11Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

We expected a better music and theatre experience based on prior QE events which we have really enjoyed. We came to listen and enjoy the music. The performance was less than we expected as we had previously enjoyed Beatlemania while cruising which was a superior performance. While the acoustics may be great in the Queen Elizabeth, the sound volume for this event was absolutely deafening and we were in Row 22. Our seats were quite good but as the band encouraged the audience to stand, our view was blocked. As the were many empty seats we were able to move to where we could see while seated. Overall a disappointment.

The only way you can go to a Beatles show in the modern era. Looked and sounded exactly like the actual band. Fantastic.

    Iconic Show

by Squirley on 2017-11-10Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

It is a true testament to the music of the greatest band of all time that their music is still relevant today and has the power to move people. Who doesn't remember the Beatles?! It was awesome to see so many young faces in the crowd. The show was realistic, the music awesome, the musicians talented and very convincing as the "fab 4". Truly a memorable night, and a great tribute to the Beatles and their music.
