Liona Boyd Tickets

I was so looking forward to this evening but was very disappointed. Liona Boyd was hardly playing the guitar which was the main reason I went and she cannot sing very well. It was not until well into her show that she did explain that she could no longer play like she used to due to a medical condition which I was not aware off. The only piece which I enjoyed was the last one she played. Dan Hill was also a disappointment. Although he is a very talented writer, and was a very melodic singer, he has lost most of his voice especially the higher range. He sounded very off and it was difficult to find any of his old voice in the show. As with many older musicians, he should retire from singing and just keep writing.

I don't know what I was expecting from a lady that just can't play as good as before. The show was OK very short not much playing when you count the intermission overpriced. I didn't buy any CD's again overpriced. My guess is that they had to make money to make up for such a poor attendance. This show wasn't one of my best at the NAC. MPT

A wonderful show! She is such a natural on stage. Wish there would had been more advertising though. The show should have been sold out.

I feel I was mislead. I feel bad for Liona and give her credit for trying to pick up the pieces of her career, but I was expecting to hear her play, not sing.

Liona Boyd's still got it! After a few years' silence the classical guitar virtuoso looks and sounds better than ever! her modesty [Of course, I am no Celine Dion] aside, this evening of 2 acoustic guitars [Ms.Boyd was joined by Srjian Givoje, both talented player and a vocalist] was one of the best live shows I've seen in my life. If I had not already been a fan of Liona's, I'd become one after that night. Thank God, Ms.Boyd, that you are "no Celine" - you are a 1,000 times greater than her! I am not missing your concert ever again!

I booked tickets for this show back in June. I was so looking forward to listening to classical guitar. Instead, I got a guitar 101 performance, and one of the worst singing voices I have ever heard. When she came onstage, she starting singing. My husband and I looked at eachother and mouthed "she sings?". She trys but she definately cannot sing. I paid for and expected to see guitar playing at a level that is better than my 12 year old nephew. We left at the intermission which was an hour too late.

We went in anticipation of seeing one of the world's greatest classical guitarist . What we got was Ms. Boyd now attempting to sing love and folk songs , no classical pieces at all . ' Puff the Magic Dragon !!! " Apparently , due to physical limitations, she is no longer capable of playing classical pieces, the way she once did .. MAYBE, that is what she needs to advertise herself as then .. , rather than leading people to believe she is something she is totally not .. I know I was not the only stunned and pissed off person in the audience ..We left at intermission, and never returned . Terrible terrrible experience .. Still seathing mad . This is break from the All Classical Guitar. Liona sings and it is lovelyj; she is better than Celine. Her playing is still wonderful. The duo at time seemed a bit disorganized in their playlist. Their voices due complement and sounds great. The nostalgic songs was a lovely touch and walk down memory lane. The Studio is cozy and great atmosphere. Remember it is General Admission. This was the first of their mini-tour and they will only get better I would see this again but with different expectations.
