I have never seen Lorna Luft before, and after a friend had waxed lyrical about how good the show was, I was looking forward to seeing her on stage. She started with a video of Judy and her as a child, and then went on to sing numerous songs from Judy's song book. The singing was interspersed with stories from her childhood. Some of the stories I had heard before from Liza, with the obvious slight differences, but all her stories enhanced the enjoyment of the show. Lorna can certainly belt out a song. However, her "dance" moves left a lot to be desired. She moved very stiffly, bopping around the stage in an attempt to be more animated. Her musical director (husband) was very attuned to her singing, and lead the orchestra beautifully. Several times he contorted himself to watch her in order to keep the orchestra in time with her singing, which was wonderful. I enjoyed the show, but have to say that Lorna Luft has no stage presence or charisma, and as a result I felt that the wow factor was not there. I hate to compare her to Liza, but can totally understand why she didn't make it as big. I recommend the show because the singing was wonderful, and the musical direction superb, the added extra of the Judy movie clips were an added bonus.
