About

Michael Bublé In Concert

Michael Bublé thought he knew what love was. After all, he's sold more than 60 million albums worldwide singing about the subject. But it turns out he had a lot to learn.

The week that his last album, 2016's Nobody But Me was released, Bublé and his family went through an emotional journey that informed and changed his life.. He was understandably unsure how or if music was going to remain part of his life. "What the experience did was give me a real perspective.. It completely changed my outlook on what mattered and what was important to me."

But the desire to express himself creatively slowly came back into focus when Bublé invited his band mates over to his house, not with the intention of making music, but simply to enjoy each other's company and drink, eat pizza and play video games.

"Once we got bored with that, we started jamming and there was this wonderful click, this moment where I went, ‘Oh, yeah! I forgot how much I loved this'," Bublé recalls. "I think I just needed a little helpful reminder." The concept for the new album (pronounced Love) flowed. "Then, the only question was not ‘Am I going back to work.' It was ‘Can I do it on my terms? Can I do the songs I love with the people I love the way that I love and do it with pure joy and bliss?' And once I knew that was possible, it was a go."

Bublé's vision entailed looking at love in all its facets, both sacred and profane. "This would be my group of short stories that would be my theory of love," he says. "The good, the bad, the light, the dark, and I think that took a lot of pressure off of [Bublé's co-producers] David Foster and Jochem van der Saag and me. There was just great ease of having done our homework and knowing what the record was."

His mission became clearer as he picked the songs — or as he says, "I know it sounds so artsy-fartsy, but I think the songs chose me. It's strange how the universe will just drop things into your lap."

Bublé anchors Love with songs from The Great American Songbook, often reinventing timeless classics with dazzling new arrangements. His haunting interpretation of "My Funny Valentine" is as menacing as it is melodic. Bublé and Cécile McLorin Salvant turn "La Vie En Rose" into a poetic bi-lingual duet, while Bublé and Loren Allred put a new twist on Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make It Through The Night." Charlie Puth contributes backing vocals on "Love You Anymore," which the hitmaker co-wrote with frequent Bublé collaborator Johan Carlsson. The emotional centerpiece of the album is "Forever Love," a tune co-written by Bublé about his favorite role, being a dad, and the vulnerability and strength that comes with unconditional love.

Love stands as a testament to the power of music and its healing power—in this case, not just for the listener, but for Bublé too. "The truth is I needed to make this album," he says. "The truth is it was really therapeutic for me. I felt so comfortable. I mean, these songs, this genre, is the essence of me. It's where I live, it's where I've grown up... It fits me perfectly. It's so natural."

His return to the studio came with a purity of purpose and an even stronger sense of connection with his fans, whose unyielding outpouring of support lifted him and his family through the darkest times. "Going through what my family went through also gave me faith in people and humanity," he says. "I just felt really blessed in a lot of different ways— obviously with the outcome with my boy and I also felt like I had been blessed with this wonderful opportunity in my life to do something that I love that could maybe have the positive impact out in the world that the world had on us."

Making Love brought Bublé a sense of joy that, in hindsight, he realized he'd been missing on recent projects. "I never felt so free [since] I started my career when I was never worried about the results because I was so overjoyed and grateful that I could be doing it at that capacity. I just might have forgotten that joy. I don't know if I remembered well enough the real reason of why I loved it. I wish that I didn't need something so harsh to teach me such a lesson, but it is what it is."

And now, as Love goes out into the world, Bublé hopes the music reaches those who might need to hear it the most and provide comfort to those in distress. "There are people that are gonna hear these songs and they're gonna be inspired to fall in love and there are people who are gonna hear these songs and they're gonna be hurting," he says. "They're gonna be, in many ways going through tough stuff. And if one of these songs lifts them out of that, if it can carry them to another day, I think then I'm doing my job and I think I'm being responsible for the gifts I've been given."

Sound was really bad, but was it cause of the seats

by AV on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

Michael is a great showman, the stage was really nice, but the issue is something I've noticed at the Bell center many times, the sound is horrible. OK we were high up, but could not understand a word he said and the sound echoed .. just really did not enjoy the show. We left early.

    Michael Bubilicious

by Claud on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

Great show, perfect setting and a great entertainer. Michael Buble has extraordinary skills to communicate with his audience. He gets the crowd going and integrate them into his show. Loved the stage (remind me of old Las Vegas crooner) and enjoy the orchestra beautiful music (more than 24 musicians). Two thumbs up …What a great show

    Too much orchestra

by Lynn M. on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

Overall the show was great and we were impressed with the set, the orchestra and above all Michael Bublé -he's an amazing showman and of course we love his voice. We were up in section 336 and our one major complaint was the sound level of the orchestra, which very often completely overpowered Bublé's voice. To the point that there were times we either couldn't figure out what song he was singing or we could barely hear him at all over the instruments. When he was strictly accompanied by the piano or singing a quieter piece there was no issue. Thank you

    Terrible sound at the top

by Avo on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

Extremely bad sound experience! Terrible client services! Although I was very excited to attend this event and thank you for organizing it, I am completely dissatisfied and even shocked that the event took place with such sound problems at the last row where I was for this concert. The sound was very echoey, the singer’s word and tome were unintelligible and unrecognizable! The instruments sound-mixing was non-existent and a lot of instruments’ sounds were not in synchronization with Michael Buble’s voice. I have expressed my complaint to the admins available there and some others from the audience did too. A supervisor said they are going to check with the sound engineer near the main stage below. I requested a refund and they guided me to send an email. The response I got? “We apologize that you have encountered difficulties at the event.” “We see that your event has already occurred, and unfortunately, refunds, per the Event Organizer, are not allowed for past events.” No one should pay for such below-standard experience! I have attended many concerts at Bell Centre and the sound quality was never like this. My and my partner’s night was almost ruined because we were looking forward for overdue enjoyment at Michael Buble’s concert that night.

by Halah on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

It was my first time to bublé . I reserved last minute for 4 so we had a corner on 302 … the sound was not good we can hardly understand him even when he sing it was not the best sound . The screen were blocked by the metal structure so not even that . I mostly enjoyed the light show . The worst was one of my friends had phobia from hight … now i understand why the tickets were cheap but out of respect to the artist it should not be even sold

    Top notch performer/horrible sound

by Tray on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

This was my second Michael Bublé concert at the Bell Centre in Montreal. He is truly an amazing performer, he makes you feel like you're in a small venue, his show feels so personal. His voice is so powerful and the man oozes sex appeal and charisma. Unfortunately the sound was horrendous. To the point it was difficult to understand a word he said. Everyone sitting around me was complaining as well so I didn't imagine it. It was my husband's first concert so needless to say it was a huge disappointment for him. The sound check people must have clued in and fixed something because the last two songs were nice and clear. Too bad they waited till the very end to fix the issue. I would without hesitation go see Michael Bublé again however I'd be reluctant to go back to the Bell Centre. I spent money that I really don't have just to hear mumbling and echoes.

by Frankie on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

Bublé always give a great show with a nice stage set up, but the sound at Bell Center for that show was by far the worst all times ... i don't know if you guys as try (sound tour peoples) but hope you will fix for next show in town. we were 6 in my group in the red section (121) and all have the same comments. but again, nothing to say for the rest. Great show, but there was a problem with the sound

by Janick on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

Every thing was great, but when he was walking on center stage, the sound was often awfull. I don’t know if it is because we were in the higher section, but it was desappointing

Bonne expérience, mais enjeux de son

    by Claude-André on 2022-10-21Centre Bell - Montreal

Très bon spectacle, artiste énergéique et généreux, mais il y avait des évidents problèmes de son pour le premier 20 minutes. Ça été corrigé, mais ça été frustrant pour les premières chansons.
