The show was OK - we were expecting more because many years ago we attended a similar display and it was outstanding. Not this time.

I've been to many tattoos. This one ranks as one of the slowest. Opening idea didn't come through (I didn't understand what the recruitment table was about.) 1800s military drill went on too long. Cadet band was so-so, but at least within theme, which can't be said for the native dancers... There is an interesting history of native americans serving in various combat situations for Canada. It would have been nice to explore that. Military Wives choir was excellent (although setup took too long, and volume was not high enough when balancing against the massed bands and male soloist.) Generally, not enough pipes.

    Canada Proud!

by Mairead on 2015-06-02FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

What an amazing night at the Canadian Military International Tattoo in Hamilton. First time attendee with 4 guests and everyone left full of exhilaration. Went specifically to see the pipe bands and left completely entertained by the pipe and drum bands, dancers, cadets, actors, singers and native Indian performers.

    Tattoo needs some work

by GrimsbyD on 2014-06-12FirstOntario Centre (Formerly Known as Copps Coliseum) - Hamilton

I have attended the Tattoo for the past 5 years. I think its time for some new themes. While I love the pipe bands etc, the theme of the 1812 war isn worn out. I would have thought that this year with the 70th Anniversary of D Day there would have been more about that instead of the 1st World war. As well, I went on the Sunday afternoon, the show started late and seemed to drag throughout. This was also expressed by many around me! I will look forward to see what next year brings before I decide to attend. The actual presenters in the show from the bands to the dancers were excellent!

Excellent program. It was too bad that there were not more people there to share the show.

    Not a Tattoo!!

by CopperScorp on 2014-06-11FirstOntario Centre (Formerly Known as Copps Coliseum) - Hamilton

Was really disappointed. Wasn't a tattoo at all, was just a bunch of individual performances of area cadet corps, Salvation Army band, couple of Police groups. Really really dry skits, lots of dead air. Each group was very talented, not to take anything away from each of them, but just was not a tattoo. The last 5 minutes was the best, first 5 minutes the worst. Paid $50 to see the Salvation Army band play 5 songs that you could see for free every Sunday in Ancaster and listen to a narrator who had either never read the script before showtime or was more occupied doing something else.

Not many different bands. Would like to hear more bagpipes and less drama.

Great Pipes & Drum & Mass Band event

    by Auto0072 on 2013-06-11Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

If one likes the Pipes and Drums and the mass military bands, then this is the event for you. This Hamilton event is in it's 26th year and is one of the largest gatharings in Canada for bands of this type. With international acts & guests every year this is just not a local event.

I enjoyed the show - especially the bagpipes. The event was far too long - 3.5 hours. Would like to see more bagpipe bands, a 2 hr performance and less dancing. The singing was great especially the bank from Rome Georgia and the lady with the guitar.
