    Miss Saigon

    by Luckyme3837 on 2013-10-09Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Powerful! I first saw this play in Toronto, Ontario, Canada many years ago. The story was so powerful that I hoped I could see it again someday. I saw it again this weekend in Detroit, Michigan. Wow! It invoked the same feelings in me again. The story, the music, the actors, the sound effects were all amazing. The actual story is not a "happy ever after" however it is a must see! You will laugh......and you will cry! You will appreciate the story.

    Bravo Ma-Anne!!! Welcome Back!

by RexW on 2010-07-30Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

We saw the show last night with friends and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Ma-Anne Dioniso is still in exquisite in the role. If she's aged since she last performed MS in Toronto, it doesnt show from row J. Her and the other leads were really strong vocally - very impressed in particular Kevin Gray (The Engineer) and Devin Ilaw (Thuy). Tour companies always have the disadvantage of being compared to the original productions where the sets and company are so much larger. For example, the recent run of Cats was very disappointing compared to the original staging. However, in MS other than The Morning of the Dragon where the limited number of flag carriers made the number look like something from "America's Top Dance Crew", there was little lacking in the rest of the show. Well done and highly recommend it.

    Miss Saigon could've been better

by theatrebug on 2010-07-12Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

I have one serious complaint for the performance on Sunday, July 11th. The Sound. I felt that the sound system was completely off. It made it difficult to understand clearly what was being said/sung when there were duets, multiple singing or if the person was at the back of the stage moving forward. I'm not sure if the mike's weren't on properly or if the sound engineer took an extended break or what the problem was. It seemed that the sound was either too high or not levelled enough between the highs, mids and lows. It was very distracting from what would have otherwise been considered a great performance. Miss Saigon is a moving, touching story and it is a shame that it was ruined by something that should have been tended to. Very disappointed.

    It was good, not great

by Arisu on 2010-07-11Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

The set needs to be more elaborate, the acting was average at best. There were two stand out performances, vocals were great but didn't leave a lasting impression. VIP Lounge was excellent though :)
