    Incredible

by Anonymous on 2009-11-04Massey Hall - Toronto

This was by far the best show I have ever been to. They not only played songs off of the new album but they also played multiple songs from each of their respective bands. They were all very upbeat and energetic. I was blown away.

    great show

by MOFfan on 2009-11-03Massey Hall - Toronto

What a great collection of performers. They clicked really well, and I loved how they traded off instruments all night long. Everything from super-quiet to full out rock. Awesome.

    Yimmy stole the show!

by snacker on 2009-11-03Massey Hall - Toronto

Yimmy Yames is the man...M. Ward was pleasantly surprising, and Conor was a bit worse than I had imagined he would be (a bit out of his league in this format I would say). I just wished there were more people there to see such a cool show. Oh yeah, more Yimmy!!! Rock and roll hearts will never die!!!

    genius!

    by Ja9yo on 2009-11-03Massey Hall - Toronto

What a fantastic show! I don't even know where to begin. I used to laugh at people who cried at Bright Eyes shows. I'm glad it was Monsters of Folk that I cried to. haha. Watching those fantastic boys create some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard was simply breathtaking. They looked like they were having so much fun and that just made it even better. Massey Hall is a fabulous venue and it sounded marvelous! The instruments were amazing, electric mandolins, keyboard&piano and pedal steel guitar were so fun to watch. It was amazing to see these songs come to life, to see all of the sounds. Hearing some of my favourite songs performed is an amazing experience and it was so exciting to hear those awesome songs I've never heard. The balcony felt pretty close to the stage which is appropriate considering how close you are to everyone else, you should feel close to the stage as well. Does everything they touch turn to gold? I was sad that the encore was only one song, I could have enjoyed that for much longer.

Monsters of Folk sweetness to the senses!

by redhorserising on 2009-11-03Massey Hall - Toronto

Wow! The caliber of talent and guitar finesse was spectacular. Jim James voice resinated through out Massey Hall reaching well above the beautiful domed ceiling, he has a voice and capacity that makes it's way to heaven. That said I can not leave out the richness of M. Wards deep vocals that envelope ones listening senses as if being drawn under his cape and into the very body of himself as part of the tale he speaks of. And Conor Oberst adding that edge of a twist and an angst his vocals combining with the others to bring orchestral layerings and blissful listening. The masterful endeavors of the guitar and other stringed delights Mike Mogis brought to brilliant light rounded out this orchestral genius of folk. And not least to say that the superlative drummer not to be left out, rythmicly riding along the twists and turns as guitars joined together down uncharted trails.

    3 hour show?

by Lsmack on 2009-10-15Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I didn't realize it was a three hour set so we showed up at 10pm and only caught the last hour. I guess I should have noticed there wasn't an opening band....... but it would have been cool if the tickets had been more specific. Otherwise......... amazing show!!!
