One of the best concerts that my wife and I have attended. Pleasant venue, good atmosphere. I have been waiting to see the Montreal Guitar Trio for many years and finally had the opportunity to see them, along with the California Guitar Trio. The bands' solo acts were excellent and their joint efforts were superb. The two groups dovetailed very well, even if their choice of music, playing styles, and instruments are different. Two of my favourite groups together - I hope I have the chance to see them again. Bravo!

One of the most enjoyable concerts my wife and I have ever attended. Nice venue, extremely professional musicians, lovely music. We are waiting for the next opportunity to see them.

    Fantastic

by mfhgiguere on 2010-11-17Arden Theatre - St Albert

Both the Montreal Guitar Trio and their Guests were excellent, playing alone or together. The venue was perfect - good seating, good view of the whole scene, good accoustics. I bought one of the Montreal Guitar Trio CD and hope to enjoy it just as much.

Interesting night, not what I expected

by Bawb on 2010-11-15Arden Theatre - St Albert

The show at the arden was an interesting mix. I had not heard anything from the California Guitar Trio prior to the show and had assumed that they would be a similar act. The night started with the headliner (MGT) taking the stage first (?!?), then the CGT came on and played. MGT was up to fine form, they played their trademark fiery tango/salsa/flamenco/classical guitar fusion and we loved it. CGT came out and did some very etheral ambient acoustic stuff that really killed the mood in the hall. They seemed to be off as well, several times they failed to hit notes or were a bit slow. After an intermission, all 6 players took the stage and made some interesting mixes. While I liked the cover of 'While my guitar gently weeps', this was not what I was looking for out of the show. Overall, it was still an enjoyable show, but I felt cheated by such a short set of MGT's prodigious talent.
