About

Motörhead is an iconic British rock band, originally formed in 1975 and still going strong. Their original sound, hard work and creative musical development have seen them become one of the world's most renowned rock bands, with a vast fan base across the globe.
The band was originally formed by Ian Fraser Kilmister in 1975. He's more popularly known as Lemmy and is the singer, songwriter and bassist for the band. In a changing line-up, Lemmy has remained the only constant member throughout Motörhead's 35 year history. Other band members include — or have included — Brian Robertson, Larry Wallis, 'Fast' Eddie Clarke, Lucas Fox, Peter Gill, Mikkey Dee, Wurzel, Phil Campbell and Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor.
The band's influences are diverse, and they are considered to be one of the first members of British heavy metal's new wave movement, which brought a fresh sound and approach to the musical genre between the late seventies and the early eighties. Although the band is typically associated with the heavy metal genre, their sound is unique and they are known for creating their own groundbreaking "fusion" sound of punk-led rock, along with sounds that pioneered early thrash and speed metal. Lemmy has often said that he feels more influence with punk rock than with heavy metal. Their sound has remained authentic to their roots over the years, and their fan base has grown accordingly. They have well over a million likes on Facebook alone. They have collaborated with Girlschool and the Plasmatics, among others.
Their career has seen Motörhead release over 21 studio albums, along with 12 compilations, 10 live albums and 5 EP releases. The most successful chart success for this power trio was during the early ‘80s, when they had a number of singles in the Top 40 charts. One of their most successful singles – and one that crossed over into mainstream appreciation – was “ Ace of Spades,” released in 1980. Some of their most beloved albums include the Ace of Space, Overkill, Bomber, Aftershock, The World is Yours, Kiss of Death and No Sleep 'til Hammersmith. They have sold over 30 million albums across the world and toured extensively across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia – often returning to their UK roots when they can. They have also played at a variety of festivals, including Reading and Leeds and European events.

    Lemmy!

by Totofan on 2015-08-24House of Blues - Las Vegas, NV

Straight ahead, no crap, no filler, no 'slow-dance', just heavy, loud and great! I'm not sure about the mix or Lemmy's vocals, it was difficult to tell, just kind of muddy. Anyhow, the band thoroughly rocked the house and it was an intense but brief show. All in all worth it even for the casual fan - me! Great guitarist and really great drummer.

    Motorhead never disappoints.

by superfANN on 2011-04-19Kool Haus - Toronto

I was happy to hear several new songs from the new CD. Motorhead live shows are total rock. Phil was really into the crowd. I got his pick and he shared his drink with the front row!!!

    Living Legends

by mingemouth on 2011-03-01Kool Haus - Toronto

Valiant Thor started off the show, and they were really good and entertaining, but not someone who I would go out of my way to pay to see again. Clutch were in very fine form. They sounded better than ever, very clear and crisp sound(which is a first for me at the Kool Haus) They definitely had the best sound of the night. An excellent set that contained mostly songs from Blast Tyrant Motorhead were on fire! They sounded great and very loud. Lemmy as old as he is still rocks likes nobody's business. They played songs from their vast catalogue. Mickie Dee is definitely one of the best rock drummers out there, his drum solo made me realize I wasn't aware of how good he actually was. If you haven't seen Motorhead before you definitely need to get out to a show in the next few years. Lemmy is the real deal!

    Motorhead Kicked Butt!

by marcatzo on 2011-03-01Kool Haus - Toronto

I was a bit surprised that a band like Motorhead would play a venue like this because I thought Kool Haus was actualy too small for them. The opening bands were amazing as well. I honestly never heard of Valiant Thorr or Clutch but now I'm making those two bands my next CD purchase. This was truly an amazing night filled with loud headbanging music. All the bands failed to disappoint. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the Kool Haus has no seats and I was there since 7pm waiting for the doors to open at 8pm. I was on my feet for five and a half hours and there was no room to breathe in there it was so packed! I'm a big Motorhead fan but I wish they had booked a venue with seats like Massey Hall. I still think they could've sold a much bigger venue. There were plenty of fans who were on the outside hoping someone would sell them a seat. I felt for them but there was no way I was giving up my ticket that night!

Motorhead can never be loud enough...

by Floydopedia on 2011-02-28Kool Haus - Toronto

Someone asked me "How was Motorhead?" I replied: "Do you really need to ask?" When you're walking out of a concert with only 5% hearing left in your ears and your whole body aching from moshing or being pinned in front of the stage and your bones make cracking noises when you wake up the next morning, you know you've had a great time. There is a reason Lemmy is referred to as the God of Rock n Roll. Kool Haus is a decent venue for a great band like this. Though the speakers started cracking up when Motorhead was playing and the souvenir store is way too small, the event staff and security were great. Overall, I'd go for Motorhead over and over again...until Lemmy is alive (which will be forever) and as I said...Motorhead can never be loud enough, you have to hear it louder.

    Motorhead gets bigger every time

    by Lola13 on 2011-02-28Kool Haus - Toronto

Seems this band has a renewed fame these days far surpassing what they have ever known, with the Lemmy movie out and the sold out show we attended. Tickets were scalping for nearly triple their price! I remember the days not that many years ago when people 'laughed' about going to Motorhead and there was never an issue of the show selling out. Good for the band. Bad for some of us fans due to outrageous tshirt prices and over-crowding at the venues. The place was so crowded it took twenty minutes and a lot of patience to get across the room. Never mind the poor guys bathroom, with a lineup out into the bar area! The opener, Clutch, was fantastic and the crowd seemed to be familiar with them and appreciative. We had to change out position when Motorhead came on unfortunately as Lemmy was so far back from the edge of the stage that we couldn't see him. Since it was so packed we just gave up in the end trying to see the band, listened to the songs, and left. All in all, it sounded good, and they had a fabulous turn out, but I think my days of over-crowded concerts at hard to reach venues are done. Walking to find a taxi after the show for 15 minutes in the snow really sucked. 'll stick to smaller bars in busier locations.

Motorhead Delivers...for just over an hour

    by truenorth67 on 2011-02-28Kool Haus - Toronto

Love Motorhead, who played this past Saturday in Toronto with support from Valient Thorr and Clutch. I loved Valient Thorr who had some catchy tunes and a great stage presence. I found Clutch to be a bore, sorry to the fans of the band and as for Motorhead, it was good to see them after so many years. You see, my very first concert was Motorhead (1981 at Toronto's Danforth Music Hall). Motorhead were in fine form but the set was too short: They got on stage at 10:45pm and ended around 12:10am...another 30 minutes would have been good.
