First time I have seen this show. Very fun and entertaining. would be nice if the Ballroom would rope off a section of the floor strictly for dancers though.
A great time was had by all! Such a great evening of music with some of Vancouver's best singers.
I have been to this show a few times now. You need to line up early in order to get a seat. This year we had great seats in the balcony (beside the follow-spot light man). However in the balcony we found the vocals to be muddy. The bass was overpowering and the band played over the singer(s). We investigated with some of the staff or sound people and were told that on the floor level the sound was fine. Some adjustment is needed in this factor. Just like the final show for Starry nights, the singers were unheard due to the band being e-q'd higher all night long. For the last Starry Nights show, we felt bad for Kendra because of the sound. It wasn't like that at previous shows and we sat in the same seats at the Vogue.
Non stop excellent music and dancing. Brought back lots of memories!
music was really nice, but not really Motown. The name as MOTOWN MELTDOWN was what caught me, and i thought i was going to more of a full show a motown soul talent, that had the songs of motown, with the real style of Motown. dont want to sound too disappointed, the music was nice, but the people that sang motown, were not motown singers of this style that is required to pull this type of music off. I was not disappointed with the evening, but disappointed, that i was not experiencing Motown sang the way Motown really is. Many of the Motown songs, were sang by the same group of women(good singers), but not MOTOWN STYLE, JUST THE WORDS OF THE SONG, BUT NOT WITH THE SOUL OF THE MUSIC. ONLY CERTAIN TYPES of singers, can sing these songs..and these songs were not even the real known Motown. Very disappointed. Was hoping for much more soul...it was not there. This event should not be posted as motown meltdown, very misleading,
Motown Meltdown was a huge disappointment! "Motown" is for people who like soul music but this was a concert without any soul whatsoever! I never heard of anyone singing My Girl from a cowboy perspective. It was for seniors who appreciate big band music with the word motown in it.
A truly unique and amazing experience. What a treat to see a line-up of such high-quality local talent all on one stage.
The entertainment was disappointing we had different expectations considering the name of the event .... "Motown". There were 2 acts that were very good and met our expectations we would have rathered they performed the entire evening. We were uable to purchase "a bottle" of wine as it was sold by glass only and was mediocre at best. We definately will not be returning.and will consider carefully when booking other events.
The first set was awesome and the second set was awful. The sound system from the lead microphones was terrible. Where was the SOUND MAN?????????? The best part of going to Red Robinson Theatre was the reserved seating. Also, a group called Incognito was playing in the Lions Den and they blew the roof off the place. They should have been playing the entire second act of Motown Meltdown.
