    Sublime

by klop on 2012-08-14Chan Centre For The Performing Arts - Vancouver

Words cannot convey the beauty of this show. Superb performance by a world leading A Capella choir. Hauntingly beautiful, warm, friendly and very accessible considering the difficult nature of some of the pieces. Best show of the year.

From Cuba to Denmark what a variety

by annablue on 2011-08-20Vandusen Botanical Garden - Vancouver

Enjoyed the Cuban experience. It was wonderful and would have like to have seen more of them. As for the group cappella from Denmark, I thought they were entertaining, however, I am not into cappella per se. Given the surroundings at the Van Dusen gardens which was a lovely evening, I would have preferred more musical groups like the Cuban experience and/or one or two vocalists would have also been nice. Going back to swing music was a bit old. Keep in mind, when you have an outdoor venue in which people sit on the lawn and enjoy the surroundings, picnic, and so forth, a group like the Eran Lopez-Nussa were great and similiar groups would have been more in keeping with the surroundings. i.e. groups for instance, like Van Symphony small size letting the music fill the air and touching you with a wonderful feeling...like a spiritual experience.

Concert barely ok, the location was great !

by Lou4 on 2011-08-16Vandusen Botanical Garden - Vancouver

This is the best place for a concert with the whole family: place to set the blanket, have a pic-nic, the kids can run around if listening to the music becomes a little too much. I really wish there were more concerts at Van Dusen. I also appreciated the fact that kids under 12 could go for free with an adult, everything is becoming so expensive these days that it is hard to bring children anywhere.

    MusicFest Vancouver - Vancouver Sings

by opapete on 2011-08-15Chan Centre For The Performing Arts - Vancouver

What an opportunity to hear three of Vancouver's best choirs in one program singing mostly Canadian pieces! The mass choir numbers were amazing! The Danish jazz singers were excellent, though heavily relying on electronic amplification. It was a wonderful evening!

Touche vocal jazz - love those Danes!

by wastewar on 2011-08-14Christ Church Cathedral - Vancouver

Stunning, sensational and such a lovely surprise. Was looking forward to a nice pre-dinner jazz appie yet what we got was a feast of accapella brilliance. Heard Touche twice during MusicFest 2011 and look forward to hearing them again and again. If you like jazz, you will love this group!

    Vetta strings and Vacatello

by Chopinist on 2011-08-14Christ Church Cathedral - Vancouver

Vacatello is a great pianist. She played very smoothly. I quite enjoyed Schumann' s piano quintet which is one of my favorite piece. Ensemble quite matched well.

    touche

by jazzytap on 2011-08-14Christ Church Cathedral - Vancouver

What a fantastic group! So tight, so talented and so entertaining. You would think they had a real rhythm section even though it is an a cappella choir. Can't wait until they return to Vancouver.

    Eran Lopez-do not miss

by Zhendema on 2011-08-14Christ Church Cathedral - Vancouver

First class pianist; moves beautifully between Bach, Chopin, Mozart and the best jazz and fusion compositions I have ever heard. Fantastic virtuosity but style and retenue at all times. All this alive with an indomitable typical sense of latin rythm proper to all native Cubans.Very fine bass with like agility and expression. The percussion could be more assertive. One of the best of the whole festival in Vancouver 2011.

    Touché are just amazing!

by Isamu on 2011-08-14Christ Church Cathedral - Vancouver

We thoroughly enjoyed this concert with my nephew and his wife from Germany. They are both classical orchestra musicians and were in awe of the performers, their talent and the staging.
