    So Beautiful!

by ThaPhoenix on 2010-05-26Sound Academy - Toronto

Musiq was on point the whole time! Beautiful voice and engaging persona. The only thing missing was Marsha Ambrosius! She was a no-show.

    Late and Rushed

by Muaytiger on 2010-05-25Sound Academy - Toronto

I have seen musiq before at the Phoenix, the tickets were $10 cheaper, there were more people and the concert was better. This time, Musiq came on insanely late, with terrible back up singers and rushed through every song. At the Phoenix it was just him and he really took his time and sang each song. I was not happy with this performance and I was in the front row at the stage.

    Bilal main act?

by Soulstar on 2010-05-25The Sound Academy - Toronto

the doors opened at 830, and musiq didnt come out until 1230. 4 hours! I mean, it was practically Bilal's show, he got to sing 7 sets - he was on much longer than Musiq was and was up during prime time. This was promoted as a Musiq concert, and instead we received a Neo Soul night - which wasnt too popular among the crowd. It was obvious Kardinal Official was stalling, and i wonder if Musiq was even in the building when Bilal took the stage. anyway, Musiq was as good as you would expect but when ppl realized that hed only by on stage for 45 mins, you could tell alot of ppl were angry. when he first left the stage - setting up his encore, alot of ppl decided to leave and it wasnt worth waiting for. anyw ay... this isnt the first time Musiq has done this. I was at the concert back in 08 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Doors were to open after 8 and it was pouring rain. they didnt let anyone in until past 9... and when we got inside, we were told musiq was held up. there was one opening act, and i dont think the concert got started til after 1130. the whole crowd was drenched, uncomfortable and reeked of damp clothing. anyway, lesson learned - next musiq concert, avoid waiting in line, and opening acts. just arrive by 1100 and you may just get there before he takes the stage.

    Musiq was just ok!

by smoothmoka on 2010-05-25Sound Academy - Toronto

I'm a fan of musiq and I think he's a great singer/songwriter. But for this venue i had to give him just a 2 for the lack of a real live band. He only had a lady dj/back-up vocals and 2 more lady back-up vocals. When i go to a concert, I expect LIVE MUSIC...not tracks. I don't want to hear kareoke...Musiq was still good though!
