The event was so fantastic and cost effective that we went Saturday and Sunday to make sure that we spent enough time and participated on each court and hoop. My wife, and three boys and I had an lifetime experience and a group of memories that we will not forget about for the rest of our lives.
Growing up with the NBA and finally being able to share the love of the game with them will leave a lasting impression, and just how great basketball is. The game can have both a spirit of fun and competitiveness that will teach them how to improve their personal skills while also learning how a team can work together to achieve a common goal.
Although we enjoyed many events including playing Horse, Knock Out, Around the World, Hot Shot, and the skills competition it was our time spent at the "Celebration Court" that sealed the deal. Watching the kids take a last second shots and celebrating like they won a game was extremely entertaining. Apparently we are not the only ones that do this on our driveway.
We had the opportunity to meet current and past NBA players, as well local media broadcasters from TSN and 1050AM, capping off our time as one of the best family weekends ever.
My oldest son, (9), said that he wished the NBA did this every year in our city no matter where the All Star Game was held. Considering that is highly unlikely, we may just have to travel to the next host city! fingers crossed its a warmer location.
