It was exciting to be a part of this. really confirms the over welliam disire for a NHL hockey team in the province. Our hats off to the Chipman family & associate to step up to the plate and make it happen
MOFO jets... hahah they are back.. they better win .... or the moose will be back in 5 years..
A very fun evening! Didn't really know what to expect exactly. It was a lot of fun to be with many people of the 'same mind'. The big suspense was tied to when the Winnipeg draft pick would be made - 7th choice in the First Round. Every time the TSN telecast showed Winnipeggers in the Excel Centre; everyone at the MTS Centre cheered loudly. When TSN showed all of us MTS Centre, the cheers were even louder. Best of all was when Mark Chipman called forward 'Chevy' to make the Winnipeg "Jets" draft pick. Everyone in the MTS Centre went bananas. We were all excited and high fives were made in abundance. Shortly after our pick was made, the draw for a pair of Jets season's tickets happened. Although 99.9% of us were disappointed not to win the tickets; we were all thrilled that the team was going to be the JETS!!
Lot of fun being among so many Jets fans. Was hoping to win the season tickets but no luck. Still it was worth it.
Was there when Bobby Hull signed at Portage & Main in 1972. Was a Jet season ticket holder from then on. Went to the Soviet Union when the WHA AllStars played the Soviets in 1974. Watched the Swedish invason , The AVCO Cup championships, & never imagined hockey could be played with such skill. Was there at Portage & Main to see Dale Hawerchuk sign as a rookie 18 year old Was there to see Teemu do the incredible Was in the stands for the Jets final game Was in the stands for the farewell & retiring of Thomas Steen's #25. (Cried our eyes out) Had a hard time watching any hockey for the past 15 years. Was at the Forks on May 31 - to see a miracle. Was with my daughters on 3 computers trying to get Season Tickets on June 4 (no luck of course) Was at the MTS Centre on June 24 to hear Mark Chipman say the words we've all been waiting to hear. Welcome home Jets Deep, deep thank-you to Mark Chipman & David Thompson. We will now do our part!
I can't stress enough how such a class act True North has been through this epic event.I am looking forward to the unvailing of the new Winnipeg Jets jersey. The name selection was absolutely the right call.I also look forward to the first game.
This was a great event, Winnipeg should do this every year. The adrenaline was flowing with the excitement of the NHL returning to Winnipeg. There were over 4000 people there and by the noise one would of thought it was a full house. All of the fans were pumped. We were early and had great seats. Doing this every year would bring in some extra money and also give fans an opportunity to win season tickets, this was definitely a crowd attraction.
As expected fun for all! Nice to see the return of the Jets!
It was just amazing! If one was to be critical it would be that the screen could have had a sharper image. However, no one seemed to mind we were all just happy to be a part of history in the making. Thank you True North and Mark Chipman.
