New York Islanders History
The New York Islanders, also known as the Isles, celebrated 50 years as a franchise during the 2022-2023 season. The New York Islanders took the ice for the first time in 1972 and forged one of sports' greatest dynasties less than a decade after the franchise's inception. The New York Islanders are one of only two NHL teams to win four straight Stanley Cup Championships, and their legendary run of 19 straight playoff series victories remains unmatched in professional sports.
GM Bill Torrey's brilliant drafting during the 1970s stocked the Islanders roster with some of the game's greatest players. Defenseman Denis Potvin, right wing Mike Bossy, center Bryan Trottier, goaltender Billy Smith, and left wing Clark Gillies powered the dynasty and went on to the Hall of Fame. Coach Al Arbour joined Torrey and his five players in the Hall of Fame after finishing his career fourth all-time in wins. New York Islanders legends Butch Goring, Bob Nystrom, and John Tonelli are also forever enshrined on the rafters at UBS Arena.

New York Islanders at UBS Arena
Opened in 2021 as the new home of the Islanders, UBS Arena sits in Belmont Park — between Montauk and Manhattan — and is the only arena in Metro New York that was built for hockey. The New York Islanders played their first games at UBS Arena in the 2021-2022 season. The design of the arena is inspired by iconic New York landmarks, including Central Park, Grand Central Terminal, and the Park Avenue Armory. It also features the largest arena scoreboard in New York State.
The New York Islanders’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Islanders face off against the Buffalo Sabres. The Islanders will participate in the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series — hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — against the New York Rangers on February 18. They play their final game of the regular season at home against Metropolitan Division rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:
Tickets for the 2023–24 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the New York Islanders.
The Islanders have made five appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, and have won the Stanley Cup four times (in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983).

Overall a great experience, a first class facility with great food & beverage services!
Great building to watch a game...reasonable priced tickets, good food selection and easily accessible via subway.
It was an enjoyable experience. I wished there were more people in the stands.
Fabulous place to see a hockey game. Not a bad seat in the house. Leafs lost. Doesn't get much better.
Seats cost are lower than other hockey team. We were at 6 seats from the ice. For the same price in MTL or Toronto we are in the last row. The Fans are Great.
Great seats, great game!!! Reasonable ticket price for such an awesome seat
Only issue is Islanders lost the game. They put on a show throughout the game - incredible time for such a low cost - we go down for a weekend every year and plan on continuing it.
Heard some not so good things about Nassau coliseum but it was a great night and the Isles have some great fans.
been wanting to go see a game forever and finally took a trip to NY for that reason. Had a blast, the city is amaing.
Great game! Actually very good facility for such an older arena. Long ride out from Manhattan with limited transport from train.
