Guitar excellence mixed with fun
by Splash2 on 2015-04-01West End Cultural Centre - WinnipegVery enjoyable event, had good seats at WECC in Row 3, so up close and personal. Oscar was backed up by a pianist, a second guitar, and a percussionist. As always, Oscar's playing is crazy good. He played some newer music from a new CD he has issued, and some other more familiar tunes. All very enjoyable. Of special note was the percussion. He is a big man, and while playing with one song, he was strictly using his hands instead of sticks. At one point, he knocked one of his cymbals right off its stand. After that, it was put back on, but had to be replaced several times. He was having fun, as was the crowd. The group was very tight, and in keeping with Oscar's general approach to performing, there were lots of humorous moments between songs. Really enjoyed the evening, now if he would only reunite with James Keelaghan and retour as the Compadres.
