    Fantastic showcase

by Jenny B on 2023-05-19Meridian Hall - Toronto

Outside Looking In show was incredible ! The youth worked so hard on their dance routines which reflectedin their performances! Tracee Smith and her OLI crew did such a great job to teach all the dance routines to the youth. The Outside Looking In show is highly recommended!

    AMAZING PERFORMANCE

by SJ on 2023-05-16Meridian Hall - Toronto

This performance was amazing, it was so heartwarming and touching to see all the youth from various communities come together to perform in front of a huge crowd in downtown Toronto. (which is famous for that toothpick looking thing IYKYK...lol) Great atmosphere, wonderful show, the music and ambiance was great. Congrats to all the youth involved for putting up a great show, we hope to see more communities involved in the future!!!

    A night to remember

by Andy on 2023-05-16Meridian Hall - Toronto

I felt honoured and privileged to witness the energy and talent of 250 indigenous performers at the Meridian Theatre. It was very emotional to watch them use art to express their resilience over decades of oppression.

An incredible honor to witness these performances

by CH. on 2023-05-16Meridian Hall - Toronto

Speaking as an educator here. There's nothing more amazing to see youths thrive while having to be resilient through adversity caused by the colonial violence that's left Indigenous nations to fend for themselves. Where survival is resistance, seeing these incredible talented youths experience joy through dance is such an emotional experience. What an experience of a lifetime for the folks who got to perform on stage and for their families and caregivers to come to the big city and witness this big accomplishment. It's even more amazing to see how impactful OLI is with their programming as they continue to support youths from remote communities and be able to connect them to themselves through dancing and connect them to each other and the big city! It's been days since the performance and I'm still processing how amazing and touching it was. I'll be bringing my family to this show next year and will keep coming back!

it was such an experience the dancing the commitment from the participants knowing that this was the first time for so many of those young people to be in toronto all that & they served alcohol made it such a fun night. I shook so many random natives hands cause I was in a good mood & I even traded somwone from Pikangikum for their OLI tshirt i cant wait until next year when I'll blow even more money, for the cause

Absolutely Amazing, these youths are all Future Stars

by Eva Apukjij on 2023-05-16Meridian Hall - Toronto

I traveled from Nova Scotia with three of my teenagers and left them all filled with exciting, hope, inspiration. It was their " most incredible memorable experience ever" , even better than the aquarium, cn tower and first plane ride ever. This show was their favorite, true success. Personally , I was so filled with made pride , I cried tears of joy and pride, never seen such a show and I am an artists, I have seen alot of shows but never anything like this from our indigenous youths. , Love Mom ... ps this was an incredible way to spend my mother's day weekend, we will never forget all these performances. Well worth our time and travel.

    Uplifting and Spirited

by Middle Kingdom on 2022-05-16Meridian Hall - Toronto

The performances were spirited, energetic and entertaining with a great admixture of the traditional and the contemporary. The video interviews of the performers and the remarks of the alumni hosts were inspiring. They brought to life the “Why” of Outside Looking In as organization, which is to “encourage youth to pursue education, engage in self-expression, and celebrate empowerment.” Congratulations to Tracee on being the driving force behind founding Outside Looking In, producing such an incredible annual event and the programs in 30 communities for indigenous youth for the last 15 years.
