I guess its my fault for not researching fencing. I went to the event to expect to see fencing but what i saw looked to me like they just swing for the opponents body hoping for the best. Announcement were very quiet so couldnt hear anything what announcer was saying.
It was a very exciting match! Both teams delivered! Congrats team Mexico!
First time watching fencing and loved it! Fantastic announcer who explained the essentials of the sport with a sense of humour.
The fencing venue at U of T Scarborough was a great venue to watch fencing. Comfortable bleacher seats and good view from any seat. Staff and volunteers at Pan Am were courteous and helpful. This was my first time watching fencing and it was surprising very fun to watch and intense. As well the official staff would between matches explain to the crowd some of the technical details of the fencing match so that first time viewers as myself could better understand what we were watching. Over all really great time at Pan Am fencing preliminary.
The women's event was a bit slow but the men's was a lot of fun. I was really bummed when the referee made the Cuban team stop showboating when they scored. That was the best part.
Excellent and exciting to see the calibre of athletes and the many people from across the America's enthusiastically supporting the athletes!
Great event! Fencing was exhilarating to watch - we learned a lot!
