Panama Games Triathlon Thrilling Finish
by Cockneyboy on 2015-07-15OPW-Ontario Place West Channel - TorontoThis was a must attend event for us to cheer on the Canadians & Andrew Yorke, in particular. It was exciting from the start when 30 plus young men dived into the unexpectedly warm water of Lake Ontario, by Ontario Place (rather sad looking at present), to swim 1.5 km in about 20 minutes. Our boy was in the lead group. We stood immediately above the exit ramp from the lake into the transition area to witness the disciplined change from swim to bike. Our boy was in the lead group. We saw the majority of the riders in a tight peloton ride the several laps which made up the 40 km. No one broke away. Our boy was in the lead group. A young American lead the group into the transition to the run. Our boy was in the lead group & then in front with a young man from Barbados. They train together in Canada. They were strong. They could nt pull away. Their followers took the initiative & put their pedal to the metal. Our boy was bravely trying to keep up. It was nt to be. We were proud Canadians of our boy's finish. He spoke bravely and confidently and acknowledged there's a lot more races before RIO. He will be there and he will do Canada proud again!
