The event looked to start out on the right footing. Classy, exotic decor with good lighting and set up for comfort and good viewing of main stage. The event was amateur from that point forward. The show began an hour late with no announcement to inform the guests of the delay or reason for it. The audio was incredibly loud at some points during the evening, where one would have to shout into the ear of their seatmate to be heard - also, was this not toted as a "Beach Dance Party"? The music was not conducive to dancing for the the crowd present - noone danced the entire evening.
Overall, it was more a bikini fashioin show than anything remotely likened to a Playboy talent event/party. There were only two women (photo-ops purpose only, it would seem)mingling in the crowd, and even they stayed on the outer edge waiting for others to come to them for photos. Nobody worked the tables, mingled with the guests.....not Playboy caliber at all.
The timing of the stage events was poorly managed, leaving the guests to sit and wait for much too long between interaction with what was going on up on stage, and that resulted in many of the guests leaving before the 3rd part of the stage portion. Again, this smacked of amateur produciton, not what one would expect from a Playboy event.
Overall, sure we had a nice evening out. It was somewhat disappointing that what we were led to believe the event to be was in fact - nothing even close to that. I wonder how the other 49 cities fared with this unheralded opportunity to pull off such a historical event?
