About

Since his 2010 debut, Dominican American crooner Prince Royce has become a permanent fixture at the top of the Billboard Tropical and Latin charts. His third studio album, 2013’s chart-topping Soy El Mismo, blends bachata and mariachi elements with sleek R&B-inspired production to dazzling effect, as featured on lead single “Darte un Beso” and the Selena Gomez-featured “Already Missing You.” Born in 1989 in the Bronx, Royce started writing songs in his early teens, ultimately settling on bachata, an Afro Latino style of music popularized in the Dominican Republic, as his genre of choice. His self-titled 2010 debut and 2012 follow-up Phase II were both hugely successful, earning him Latin Grammy nominations for Best Tropical Album and Best Tropical Fusion album respectively. On tour in 2013, Prince Royce has been wowing ticket buyers with his refreshing modern take on classic genres, earning him a reputation as one of Latin music’s best live concerts.

Performance was amazing, organization was not

by ConcertReviewerCanada on 2014-08-27Sound Academy - Toronto

It was a great concert and just based on Prince's Royce's performance alone I would it give it 5 stars hands down. However, the whole concert was over an hour behind schedule. At a general admission concert that means standing for an even longer amount of time... without a bathroom break. It was also disorganized as the staff didn't even seem sure of what was going on. It was also overpriced for a standing only venue. Also the opening acts mic was too loud and background too soft, the reverse problem for when Prince Royce came on. I suspect technical problems were part of the delay. Despite these things I would certainly go again. Yes I would prefer the Air Canada Centre, but at the A.C. I wouldn't have had the opportunity to be so close to the stage. His performance was also fantastic. He sang all his big hits and just when you thought it was over BAM there was more. He blew kisses to the audience, jumped up and down, and even brought a girl up on stage. I Loved it and I don't even speak Spanish! Only thing is I wish he had danced more.

    Prince Royce = amazing

by knellul on 2014-08-26Sound Academy - Toronto

I am so happy that i was able to see him in a venue like sound academy. He is so amazing live vocally and interacts a ton with fans in terms of pointing out to people, acknowledging people in the audience, flirting with the audience. Sound academy is a smaller, cozier venue and i had platinum tickets (still unsure of what that meant) regardless i was able to squeeze my way in and basically right in front of the stage. I would see him again in a heartbeat. The only downfall was the machines that released confetti in the end blocked my view for the first part of the concert until i was able to move over more. It was disappointing at how much of the view they blocked.

    Something to remember

by JRamirez on 2014-08-26Sound Academy - Toronto

I liked the concert itself and it was a good experience for my teen daughter as well. Just noticed the lack of organization while doing the line

    Prince Royce was amazing!

    by menna44 on 2014-08-26Sound Academy - Toronto

My first concert and it was great! when he finally came out to perform it was well worth the wait, he has this energy with his band and audience that is contagious and admired. If you enjoy Latin music (I'm not Latin but I love the music) then I suggest you go!

Prince Royce is amazing. MUST SEE!!

by nenadulce on 2013-04-24The Sound Academy - toronto

The show was unforgettable. Prince Royce really knows how to entertain and keep a smile on your face. He's so energetic, the whole concert keeps you wanting more. However, the venue was horrible. Tickets were overpriced for a standing venue...it was essentially a 'first come, first serve'. The venue is SOO disorganized....it was a winter storm...freezing cold.....and they had us wait outside for over an hour....worst venue ever. Opening act was pretty bad too. Wish it was something better.

    Pince Royce

The Artist was great, best shoe ever, but location and organization of the event was very poor. Really over priced for a stand up show.

    Prince Royce was amazing! !!!!!

    by tazy111 on 2013-02-18Sound Academy - Toronto

First off, I want to start by saying that once Prince Royce got on the stage he was amazing. He is a beautiful singer and he put on a great show. Now that said I was very disappointed with the way this concert was done. No where did it say, when I purchased my tickets that it was on a first come, first serve basis. We ended up finding out the day of the event, as well as for the amount of money we spent (96.50 for platinum, front floor seats, as they called it!) there was NO seats, everyone was pushing and you couldn't even move, I was not happy at all about this! I could have bought the cheap tickets and go early to the event and probably got even closer to the stage then I was with buying the platinum seats. I was very, very disappointed with jep entertainment and the opening act they brought... they were not bad, but their music was not for the crowd that was there. I won't be going to another concert like this again... I think I would just wait for the singer to come to acc or a theatre, where I know they'll have seats and I'm not feeling like cattle being pushed into there cage!
