    Meh

by Raya123 on 2016-05-31Kinsmen Banquet Centre - St. Albert

The music was good but I felt that it took way too long for Blackjack Billy and George Canyon to come on. It would have been nice if the advertising had advertised the bands that were coming on before the featured bands so that I could have shown up later on. I arrived close to 7 and didn't get out until 12:30 or later. That's a long time for someone who can't drink and pregnant to stand in a rowdy crowd. I didn't think the concert would be right inside of the beer gardens. I think having one extra band besides the advertised is great.. any more than that the night kind of drags on. I heard this from many others who were at the event as well.

    Slow and boring

by Mathesol on 2015-05-26Kinsmen Fair Grounds - St. Albert

The lineup was horrible, first band, oil city was ok, playing covers but great singers. The second band was terrible, no excitement, terrible music. Gob was a shining light, they were really good, but then they ruined it with glorious sons, they cannot keep a crowd going if their life depends on it. Too many breaks, the music sucked and we didn't get a chance to see I mother earth because we were so annoyed by glorious sons that we left.

    Glorious Sons were amazing!!

by mort22 on 2015-05-25Rainmaker Exhibition Grounds - St. Albert

This was one of the best outdoor shows I've been to. Gob was subpar but the 2 unknown opening bands were solid, I Mother Earth was good and Glorious Sons tore the place up. The staff were a mixed bag, either extremely friendly and helpful or downright rude and obnoxious. The poor staff is why the 3 star rating is not higher, if a customer asks if there is anywhere on site to buy earplugs an acceptable response is not "There's toilet paper in the porta-potties you can stick in your ears".

I Mother Earth rocked the solar system!

by G00fyN00fy on 2015-05-25Kinsmen Fair Grounds - St. Albert

Overall, the venue was pretty well orchestrated. I didn't partake in any of the fairground festivities so they are exempt from this review. As far as the show itself went. I have very few complaints. Aside from the odd, amateur mic squeal and a bit of muffle in the vocals for earlier bands. The sound quality was excellent given the location. Bands were performing under a tent which is a good precaution when playing at an event call Rainmaker... I digress. The sound was definitely perfected by the end of the night for the headliners, I Mother Earth. My first time seeing them and my lord did they take me by storm. Magnificent! I'd also like to give a shoutout to the second band to play that day, also a first time treat, an up and coming band called Pigeon Park. Those boys rocked it and are going to do great things. Check them out! Of course GOB was amazing as well. Those boys out sure put on one hell of an electric show. Now for a few upsets. Parking was a bit of a scramble. Although it worked out for myself and my group of friends. It was a very unorganized, dog-eat-dog concept. There was absolutely no seating anywhere in the concert area. You have 5 bands, most of which are high energy, on a gorgeous day and nowhere to sit and have a beer, snack, water or just to rest your mosh legs. There is always the ground, sure. However, with seemingly no designated smoking area. Not only are you avoiding spit and possibly puke puddles. You are now subjected to sitting in an ashtray. Staff was friendly but seldom helpful. They all had a different story on reentry so it was a fearful endeavor to venture outside the gates. Bottom line, as above, it was still a phenomenal show and all of the necessities were met. A few adjustments to comfort and convenience would be applauded but otherwise this was a great event.
