    Rent was spent

by Stigmund on 2018-05-08Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

Disappointing. The sound system was terrible. Either so low you couldn't hear, or so loud it pinned you to your seat. And it never was clear. Several people commented that they could not tell what was being said half the time. I swear one guy's mic wasn't turned on. Cast harmonies were good, but when they had to belt it during solos, it was more screaming/yelling than singing. Not much chemistry between the cast either. Dull.

    A musical?? really??

by Lisabee on 2011-03-01Red Deer College Arts Centre - Mainstage - Red Deer

This was abysmal. It was an insult to the production. There was one person in the entire case that could sing - and even she was hit and miss. Why would they choose to do a musical with a tone deaf cast? The high school productions I have been to are far better quality and value for the money. I was dissappointed to say the least!

    RENT very enjoyable

by Thumbelina on 2011-02-21Red Deer College Arts Centre - Mainstage - Red Deer

Really enjoyed RENT at RDC. The set and lighting were amazing! The actors were fresh and enthusiastic. Music was terrific (kudos to the band and singers). Good story with an important message. Great supporting cast of background characters.

    Rent was forgetable!!

by Anonymous on 2011-02-14Red Deer College Arts Centre - Mainstage - Red Deer

I have been to many events at RDC and enjoyed them all untill now. My husband and I were very disapointed. The singing was like torcher and we couldn't bring ourselves to return for the second half. I applaud the effort but it was like they went on without even so much as a trial run. Better luck next time!!

    Disappointed

by swangirl on 2011-02-14Red Deer College Arts Centre - Mainstage - Red Deer

I have seen many excellent productions at RDC, but this one was terrible. I would suggest that if you cannot cast strong singers, do not produce a musical where every conversation is sung back and forth. The group scenes were good and a few of the females had nice voices, but the males were terrible. We actually left at intermission because it was so very UNenjoyable.

    I Expected Better From RDC

by buzzingmommy on 2011-02-14Red Deer College Arts Centre - Mainstage - Red Deer

The set was simple and perfect, the lighting well done and I applaud the arts department for taking on such a challanging piece, but the singing really let them down in spots. The harmonies between Tom and Angel duing the 'cover me with kisses' song were abysmal! Having said that though, Angel's acting was spot on! I felt the whole thing just needed more practice, the solos were generally much better than the duets and group numbers, and I wondered how often they'd sang together. Also they had some issues with the microphones, which again practice might have improved.
