    Nas + Lauryn Hill

by WhiteBreadOne on 2011-10-13Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

This concert was really good especially the opening acts Nas gave alot of energy in his performance and even gave a surprise act after his set was done and came out with Lauryn Hill to do "If I Ruled The World" Lauryn was probably more for the ladies when she came out alot of the guys sat down including me and just weren't feeling it, some girls were still rockin to it though. Personally I haven't liked Lauryn since The Fugees. Other than that though I enjoyed myself and had lots of fun I'd go back if they came to Toronto again.

i will never pay to see Lauryn Hill again!

by Anonymous on 2011-10-04Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

this Rock the Bells show should not have been called Rock the Bells. it was basically Lauryn Hill and Nas with a few additional artists that backed up Nas. it wasn't a full show by Nas, but instead there were snippets of some of his most well-known songs. it wasn't fantastic but it was good enough. as for Lauryn Hill - i won't ever pay to see her again! not only did she make us wait for 2hrs before she took the stage but when she did appear it was already past the 11pm curfew that Molson Amphitheatre usually has in place. that was just the beginning - it got worse after that. she ruined the songs from the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, her incredible solo album that put her on the mainstream map and garnered her several grammy awards. she sang them so fast that half of the songs were unrecognizable. at times it seemed like she was changing up the arrangements right there on the spot and the band couldn't tell which direction she was going. it was a complete mess. part way through her "performance" people started to leave and it was clear that she noticed. there were also people who i assumed were venue officials who seemed to be warning her that she was going too late and needed to end the show. she even left for several minutes with one of those people who stood at the side of the stage. there was no explanation for this and the band just continued to play. when she returned she looked quite upset but she still continued with the show. the only highlight of her part of the night was when Nas came back after she had been on stage for about an hour and they sang their hit, If I Ruled the World. thanks to Nas, that was sung in it's regular tempo. if not for my friend who kept hoping it would get better, i would have walked out of that show as well. i wish i could get my money back!

Don't waste your time on Lauryn Hill

    by MK132 on 2011-09-16Molson Amphitheatre - Toronto

They woman we all knew with the amazing voice is no more! If you want to hear her now, just listen to one of her tracks on fast forward. At least you won't have to wait 90mins to listen to her!! She looked like she was conducting an orchestra as a mad-woman! PURE DIVA! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

    Concert was good...but

by craig69er on 2011-09-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Nas was good, but the delay waiting for Lauryn Hill to come on stage was ridiculous!! About a 90 min wait between Nas & Lauryn Hill.

    Disappointement

by Raqd13 on 2011-09-13Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I was very disappointed in the Lauryn Hill and Nas concert. Nas was excellent for the short time he played. However, the 2 hour intermission for Lauryn Hill...(the person i paid to see) was absolutely ridiculous. You dont buy a ticket to a concert to wait around all night and get to see the artist for 20-30 mins. Very unfortunate. Big bummer.

Lauryn Hill was unfair to her fans

by kwaphin on 2011-09-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

2 hours wait between the opening act (Nas) and the main performance (lauryn hill) can't be justified under any condition. She doesn't care about the fans. She keeps doing this at all her concerts and thinks is alright.

    Worst Show Ever!!

by rockerchick30 on 2011-09-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Lauryn Hill didnt even show up on time. She was over an hour and a half late. Then when she finally decided to show up she appeared to have been high out of her mind and she sang every song at triple tempo! She changed the arrangement of all the songs. Songs that were supposed to be slow smooth r&b songs turned into fast paced raced lyrics with barely recognizable melody. She looked horrible, sweat all over the place, walked off stage many times, kept pointing and telling off her band and backup singers. Honestly, it was the worst!!! So disappointing for a $100 ticket! We left after about 6 songs because we couldnt handle the "noise" anymore. It wasnt music, it was just pure noise.

    Ms. Hill is a Diva!

by MalibuSpacey on 2011-09-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I should preface this by saying that NAS was amazing!! He is a true Hip Hop legend. It was a privledge to see NAS perform Illmatic in its entirety and to also have seen DJ Premier and Pete Rock, two of the greatest producers of all time on stage with him. However, Lauryn Hill was 3 hours late... As per usual, Ms. Hill showed us again that she has no regard for her fans' time. I left at 11 pm (Nas finished his set at 9:15) and she still hadn't taken to the stage.

Lauryn Hill is the worst concert I have EVER seen

by LiaLia on 2011-09-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Lauryn Hill was easily the absolute worst concert I have ever attended. Her songs were remixed and sped up to the point where most were completely unrecognizable. Lauryn Hill should stop touring, the concert was so incredibly awful that I have no desire to listen to her music whatsoever. The Mis-education of Lauryn Hill used to be one of my all time favourite albums. An album which, up until the concert, I would listen to in its entirety several times a week. I am very disappointed, I was really excited for this concert despite the poor reviews of her previous concert, I should have listened to the warnings. I would NEVER waste my time seeing her in concert again and I would STRONGLY advise anyone else to avoid seeing her at all cost if you would like your appreciation of her and her work to stay in tact.
