    Meh

by UhdJ on 2012-03-23Sound Academic - Toronto

he performed well, except that he showed up at least 2.5 hours late and therefore only performed for about 45 mins. overall, this wasn't worth my time, and i'm one of the biggest royce fans i know. an artist this small with this much potential needs to try harder.

    Don't show up on time

by Keostyriaru on 2012-01-12Sound Academy - Toronto

Well let's start from the beginning, the doors opened at 8 pm. We arrived at 9 figuring Royce would be starting around 10, at worst 11. After standing around for an hour and a half (now 1030), the opening duo act comes on stage (Their names forgotten), they were okay and local so that was alright. Fast forward to 1230, Royce finally comes onstage with his brother kid viscious, and performs verses of songs as his brother joins in, intermittently pausing between verses to talk to the crowd for a few minutes. He stays on stage for an hour, rather short alone. No encore. Overall I'd say he only actually performed for 30-40 minutes, between the frequent breaks and the two kid viscious freestyles. The songs he did perform were mixed between his latest solo album, Success Is Certain, Bad Meets Evil, Slaughterhouse and some of his earlier music; when he did perform, most of the songs were performed by more than one artist, and they were not present, so he'd only rap his verse then take one of those breaks. The problem with performing songs that have more than one artist is you should have those artists there, and he didn't perform many solo songs. He ended at 1 30, and everyone make a quick bee-line for the doors. Overall it was a very poor experience and I would not go to see him again as a headliner, although he said he's not releasing any more solo albums so I guess he knows how awful his act is
