    Ruthie Foster has amazing voice

Excellent. Charles Musselwhite was amazing, he can perform as if he was still 29 years old.

    bad sound no joy

by PGMB on 2014-03-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

for Charlie Musselwhite we did take advantage of the invitation to take seats on the main floor row CCC centre only to find that although the harp came through strong and clean straight from his amp, we could not make out either his singing or much of the guitar except for solos and the reverb there was reminiscent of school gym acoustics. we moved back to our original centre first balcony seats for Ms Foster for much cleaner sound but remain mystified as to why an acoustic guitar singer/songwriter set should be delivered at such shattering dbs that one is forced to use earplugs out of self defence and to be able to hear the lyrics over the drone and bloom of bass this isn't a bar/club it is a soft seater with a fairly decent natural acoustic and some pricey tickets suggest you hire some sound techs that at least understand and ideally like acoustic/roots music and that you discount main floor centre seats until you get it figured out how to deliver house sound to that unfortunate locale you fooled me twice now - Derek Trucks and now Ruthie Foster for these reasons, I'm out. I will stick to St Albert and Sherwood Park

    Ruthie and Charlie Amazing!

by Salada on 2014-03-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My husband and I both attended and enjoyed both artists. Liked Charlie's laced back style and the harmonica. Ruthie ramped up to an amazing finale.

Ruthie Foster is a natural performer!

by Beekay1 on 2014-03-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I'm a blues fan and I enjoy attending live performances. Ruthie Foster is a natural stage performer and knows how to control her audience. She has a very unique and powerful voice that remained clear as a bell throughout the entire performance. I honestly cannot remember if there was any time throughout the concert where I may have lost interest. Her three piece band, including Ruthie being very talented with an acoustic guitar, an also very talented female drummer and an awesome bass player sometimes came across as sounding as a five or six piece band. They were very tight and each performer had the opportunity to display their individual talents. Although Ms. Foster has been nominated twice for a grammy, I would personally feel she is deserving.

Ruthie Foster / Charlie Musselwhite Unbelievable

by Pokie2013 on 2014-03-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Both of these artists were unbelievable, Charlie Musselwhite was incredible to listen to, his three piece band members were very talented, professional. Charlie's musical talent is top shelf, plays the harmonica like there's no tomorrow. Ruthie Foster connection with the audience was a delight to experience, her musical talent was amazing, an absolute treat to watch and listen to. If you get a chance to see these two artists, take it, you won't be disappointed.

    Ruthie Foster and Charlie Musselwhite

by Pensacola on 2014-03-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Overall the show was wonderful. However I felt it was an odd pairing. The dynamic performance of Charlie Musselwhite was enough. He should have been the sole performer. He was vibrant and captivating. I loved Ruthie Foster's slow sultry ballads but felt she too, deserved her own solo stage. Perhaps she should have opened. It was "too much" of a wind down. We left the concert early.

    Ruthie Foster leaves us speechless!

by ML350 on 2014-03-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

First, the Charlie Musselwhite set could have stood on it's own; we would have gone home satisfied right then and there. THEN, to be followed by Ms. Ruthie Foster --- still getting shivers 3 days later. It could be that growing up within the gospel tradition aided the absolute all out ability to let all that intense musical energy directly out to us...whatever it is, we were 'blessed' to be in her presence. Great vignettes preceded each song, so much personality to go along with that fabulous voice. PS: purchased her last CD: Let it Burn and was SO disappointed by the modulated reined in versions presented. On second listening; It's still good but sadly lacking all that incredible vocal range displayed on stage.

Ruthie has a vocal range and style that has to been seen live! Charlie looks good, will give you a harmonica clinic and is backed by a band that'll blow you away!
