About

SBTRKT IN CONCERT:

Ever since the drop of his self-titled 2011 debut album, London-based producer SBTRKT has been synonymous with next-level, genre-devouring electronic music. His wide-ranging compositions encompass everything from R&B, and dubstep to bass music and house, making for an eclectic concert experience that treats fans to the farthest reaches of sonic possibility. Taking the stage in their signature tribal masks, SBTRKT and longtime vocal collaborator Sampha round out their sound with real drums and synthesizers, ensuring epic tracks like "War Drums" and "Wildfire" are even more massive live. In 2014 SBTRKT released his hotly anticipated sophomore album Wonder Where We Land to critical acclaim, generating significant buzz among ticket buyers for his upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

London-based SBTRKT, aka Aaron Jerome, got his start as a DJ in the city's underground club scene before making a name for himself as a talented remix artist. In 2009 he made his debut with the Musik Lace EP, an impressive first effort that established him as a potent new force in electronic music and hinted at big things to come. Breakthrough success followed in 2011 with his self-titled debut LP, a critical smash that was named one of the best albums of the year by both Pitchfork and NME. He followed the release with extensive touring and a steady stream of popular remixes, as well as the stellar single "Wildfire", a collaboration with Drake and Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon. In 2014 he released a trio of EPs -- Transitions I, II, and III -- before dropping his sophomore album Wonder Where We Land. The record featured an impressive roster of guest stars including Jessie Ware, A$AP Ferg, and Ezra Koenig, earning rave reviews from critics and building excitement among fans for his upcoming shows.

    Terrible

by worstliveshow on 2015-05-28Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

SBTRKT was the worst live professional show I have ever seen. I took a whole group of friends to see him last Halloween cause I thought it'd be sweet. I could have gotten on stage and played my iPod and done a better job. They didn't sing, they basically just played their songs off their computer. It was beyond pathetic. Worst of all, after 5 songs the equipment failed them then they played 2 songs that they already played for a second time then left the stage. PATHETIC, would NEVER go see them again. Worst professional live show I've ever been to -- couldn't believe it.

Very kinda boring experience: no interaction with the audience. Disembodied performance Waited 3 hours to actually see the performance

    Love SBTRKT

SBTRKT was awesome as usual and the Danforth is a well organized venue. My only issue was that the crowd was not pumped up at all which made the show not as fun as last time I saw them. Get some glow sticks people! Also, where was the giant blow up jaguar?

SBTRKT - don't waste your time or money

by DanLuna on 2014-11-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I am a big SBTRKT fan but now it is crystal clear that they are an amazing studio artists but horrible live. Other than the fact that they did not bring any MC to the concert (there are many tracks with vocals), the sound wasn't loud enough and that they have no presence at the stage at all, they had technical problems and stopped the show for five times! A friend that had seen them live at the Hoxton a couple of months ago wasn't surprised. He told me the same happened there. Big disappointment. Definitely one of the worst shows I have ever witnessed.
