    Sandra nails it again

by BrigidinOttawa on 2012-05-01National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

This was Sandra Shamas' 6th show and I've seen them all. In fact, my girlfriend and I have grown up with her. The first part of the show was certainly timely - she spoke about entering menopause with all its delightful treasures. The second part was base on her life on the farm. Sandra has matured and so have her shows. I do hope she never stops touring.

Sandra Shamas was hilarious as usual

by GSST on 2012-04-30National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I have not seen Sandra Shamas in quite a while. Her shows touch on everyday life so that you can relate to what she is addressing. That just makes it more hilarious because you have been in her shoes, She is endearing because she laughs at herself.

    Sandra Shamas is Good Medicine

by MJYOW on 2012-04-17NAC Theatre - Ottawa

From the moment Sandra walked on stage we were captive to her wit, her capacity to find humour in real life and remind us that we could laugh at it and ourselves. It was clear, speaking to the gals behind us, that Sandra had already left a legacy from previous performances and we were not disappointed in this her latest iteration. If you are not allergic to laughing out loud for two hours, then this is definitely the show to see.

    Sandra Shamus returns

by SteveyM on 2012-04-16National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Sandra Shamus is a gifted comedienne. She has the ability to make one laugh and cry, and would make an excellent actress if she wanted. She is surely in the top couple comedian/comediennes in this country. This show was good, as she always is. My two complaints were that she is a bit more caustic than she had been earlier in her career, and exposing this part of her personality detracts from her comedy. A perfect case in point was her angry reaction near the end of the show when an audience member's cell phone went off at a most inopportune moment. Granted, I would expect a performer to be annoyed, but the degree to which she lashed out surely made more than me a little uncomfortable in the audience.

    Sandra was Sensational!

by FellowWoman on 2012-04-16National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I've been to see Sandra every time she's in town. This woman is incredibly funny while she talks about real life. She's real herself and inspirational. I couldn't breathe at times because I was laughing so hard. You must go and see her!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the first half and laughed 'til I cried. The second half - not so much. I grew up in a farming community but my daughter who has always been a city dweller couldn't relate at all.

Sandra, where have you been for 9years?

by StmaryofManotick on 2012-04-15National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Thank God she acknowledged her long time absence from the Ottawa arts scene in the first 10 minutes... enabled me to stay focused on her fantastic as usual program. I don't like comediennes but I love Sandra's style...her humor turns the dry mundane ,unexplainable aspects of our changing lives and turns them into humor. I wish I could do that with all the tough stories of my life...she tells me her last show was Hearts Desire...it seems it is the only one I have missed since The Boyfriends Back and There's gonna be Laundry. dear Sandra don't stay away so long next time!
