The opening act was way too loud abs and way too much. I wish I knew. I would of showed up late. Sass herself seemed off like one too many drinks maybe. Didn’t really engage the crowd. The set list was also disappointing where she could have played more of her hits
Great concert in an intimate venue! Sass & her band never disappoint! She seemed to be having fun as well and enjoying the energy of the place. Ken Stead was the warmup band and he was also excellent. Show was supposed to start at 9, but warmup band didn't start until 9:30. Then Sass didn't start until around 10:30 so show seemed quite short, reasonable price though.
It was a 25th Anniversary celebration of Sass Jordan's album Racine at L'Astral. Sass grew up in Montreal (originally from the UK) & after spending many years in L.A., she came home to her roots "Racine" & gave such a unique performance, it was not at all what I had expected. Sass sat in front of a music stand & read us the story book of the making of Racine. The inspirations, what was going on in her life, a heartfelt story or a comical anecdote that led to the writing of every song on that album. Once the story told, she took off her reading glasses, stood in front of her starlit mic & sang with such ease...hitting every high note, not missing a beat & sounding just as good as she did 25 years ago. She even threw in "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney & "Stop Dragging My Heart" by Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty. I got a hold of the set list & purchased Storyteller which contains the lyrics to Racine & her entire dialogue from that show...WoW Bonus !!!
Last saw Sass Jordan ten years ago in Penticton, BC. She hasn’t lost her vibe. And great backup band.
A powerful voice with an incredible band and the story telling of her journey with a lot of laughs. I don't know if any performer can beat this! I highly recommend it!
It's been about 30 years since I saw a Sass Jordan live performance and she still has one of the best and most powerful voices that I have ever heard. Her recent performance at our National Arts Center even inspired me to write a new poem entitled "Rock and Roll Sister". She is a true Canadian artist and a vocal powerhouse extraordinaire. Bravo Sass! Bravo!
Not too familiar with any of her music, but it was OK. The rest of the crowd were more engaged.
