Seattle Sounders FC History

The Seattle Sounders joined MLS in 2009 and quickly built a Western Conference powerhouse, winning four U.S. Open Cups, one Supporters' Shield (2014), and two MLS Cup Championships in 2016 and 2019.

Jordan Morris was named the 2019 MLS Comeback Player of the Year after recovering from a torn ACL that sidelined him for nearly all of 2018. In 2019, the Sounders earned the No. 2 seed in the MLS Western Conference and qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the 11th straight season. In 2021, the Sounders became the first MLS club to advance to the finals match of the annual North American Leagues Cup tournament, and in 2022, the team won the interleague CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The Sounders play their home games before a 41,000-capacity crowd on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field in downtown Seattle, also the home of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. When attending a Seattle Sounders game, you can hear thousands of fans from the Emerald City Supporters group chanting "Seattle Sounders, here we go!" to the tune of The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" at one end of Lumen Field. At the other end of the stadium, thousands of fans from The North End Faithful sing atop the thundering beat of the in-stadium Sound Wave Marching Band.

Seattle Sounders FC’s 2024 regular season kicks off in February at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, when the Sounders face off against Los Angeles FC. Seattle hosts their home opener against Austin FC on March 2. The Sounders play their final match of the regular season at home against Western Conference rivals the Portland Timbers.     These seats were in a section where everyone stood for the whole game. That is not what I thought when I purchsed the tickets.

    The tickets were fine, but we didn't know it was a standing all game section. I need to sit down. We had to keep finding empty seats elsewhere.

    Beautiful field! Amazing seats and non stop action as we won 4-1! Although we were cheering for the White Caps in an ALL sounders fan area; we survived!

    The CenturyLink Field is a great stadium and the Sounders fans are awesome. There is almost European atmosphere before and during the match! The game itself was okay, a little slow and not too many great scoring chances. FC Dallas was just too weak, so Seattle beat them easily.

    Well big kudos to Seattle not for winning that was a tough loss for my Whitecaps. The praise was a great show and the atmosphere was amazing nearly 54000! and sun shine but the sounders fans well done to their politeness and made to feel welcome from the parking lot to the restaurants and the fans who came to say hello and thanks for us coming. Football / soccer fans if you are in Seattle at the right time check out a sounders game. otherwise come to Vancouver and we will try to reciprocate great game made by the players and the fans
