About

Although raised in Australia, Sia Furler rose to fame after moving to the U.K., where she worked as a guest vocalist for several groups -- including the electronica duo Zero 7 -- and released her own solo albums. Born in 1975, she first performed on the Adelaide jazz circuit during the '90s as a vocalist for the band Crisp. An attempt to launch a solo career in 1997 didn't pan out, though, and the blonde, blue-eyed antipodean eventually hopped on a plane to London. While there, she landed a gig as a backup singer for Jamiroquai and inked a solo contract with DancePool, a sublabel of Sony.

Sia released her first single, "Taken for Granted," in early 2000. Although the song only peaked at number 100 on the Australian charts, it rose to number ten in the U.K. and increased European demand for her debut album, Hearing Is Difficult, which followed in 2001. At the same time, a string of big names in the British music scene began asking for Sia's services; offers from Zero 7 and William Orbit ensued. Although some projects only called for Sia to sing on one song, her association with Zero 7 proved to be a recurring thing. She ultimately remained with Zero 7 for three albums, serving as the group's go-to vocalist while also furthering her own career with solo releases like Colour the Small One and Some People Have Real Problems.

Meanwhile, Sia also began building an audience in America. One of the songs from Colour the Small One, "Breathe Me," gained attention when it was used in the elaborate final scene of the Six Feet Under series, and the resulting buzz allowed her to enjoy a successful stateside tour. That tour was documented on her first live release, Lady Croissant, in 2007. By the following year, Sia's American audience had increased to the point that Some People Have Real Problems, her third album, debuted at number 26.

Zero 7 began working on another album in 2009, but Sia had already shifted most of her attention to furthering her own career, and the band hired another singer in her place. Working alongside bassist Sam Dixon, she boosted her songwriting cred by writing several songs for Christina Aguilera, who put the s

    Sia was awesome!

Sia was really good. Her vocals are phenomenal! Her voice with the artistic interpretation was different from any concert I've seen. A must see.

Absolutely love it. She was amazing. What a voice! It was almost perfect. I would have given it 5 stars had she interacted with the audience at all and had a longer set (it was only an hour long!). Otherwise it was fabulous.

One of the most unique, amazing concerts I have seen. A show like no other. Brilliant.

SIA IS AMAZING, SIMPLY PUT. UNFORGETTABLE!

by Sarahrocksxo on 2016-10-25Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Wow! She steps on stage in her wig & puffy white dress. Although she is front and center for only the first song then back of the stage out of the way on her pedestal the rest of the show with only flashes of her face with her mouth moving every so often on the stage, her presence and voice along command attention! Her voice is perfect and powerful. Her show gives an odd but fascinating & eerie just like her performances should be! Her live songs gave me goosebumps and the little tank her dancer is tells the story for her through movement. Just incredible! Please come back again! She doesn't speak one word until the end of the show when she thanks you and asks them to put the lights up so she can see the audience. I have goosebumps just thinking about it. She is a true artist and singer and deserves all of her success.

    Great show, terrible stage

by fuzzybunny on 2016-10-25Air Canada Centre - Toronto

We loved the performances from both Sia and the dancers! The corresponding videos were fun and interesting too. However the stage setup was terrible! The front rigging blocked the view of the small-ish stage from a good number of people. Given Sia is stationary for the show we could not see her at all. (See the photo for our view.)

Sia has a Great Voice - Show a bit Overpriced

by maxidavid on 2016-10-25Air Canada Centre - Toronto

There is nothing that can be said that is negative about Sia's voice. She sounds just as amazing live as she does on the radio, perhaps even better. I was aware of her phobia of people and expected that she would not move around much. However, was expecting more than 3 dancers doing a very interpretive dance. I paid 150 dollars for a dance recital that although talented, I could see much cheaper in a modern dance class. I was hoping more for a spectacle which would compliment Sia's amazing voice.

It was OK, I won't see her again though

by CrazyBouncer on 2016-10-24Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Disappointed in the show. Expected more, but maybe I just have high expectations. She didn't speak, didn't say anything, no story telling, disappointed no band, seemed it was all recorded except for her voice. I expected more I guess. I've been to 100's of shows. I have worked 100's of shows (backstage Security)... spent over $800 for platinum tickets from Ticketmaster, and Sia was on stage for 1hr 10mins. I didn't get my monies worth. They were late opening the doors, waited outside for what seemed ever. Just overall disappointing. I will however say the sound was incredible. Her voice was fantastic and the bass hits were something I've never experienced before (remember I've been to hundreds of shows. So for sound it gets an A+, for everything else, it was just another regular concert.

    Sia was amazing!

by Jess0392 on 2016-10-23Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I dont know why I didnt have high standards going into this concert but I just didnt think it could be that good considering she can't see so how much can she really do... But it was absolutely incredible! The creativeness of the show was great and her voice was amazing! It left us on such a concert high and feeling so emotional because it was such a cool experience! So worth the money and I would 100% see her again!

    Worth every cent

by Jurnee on 2011-08-24Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Sia has a powerful voice & stage presence. She is fearless, completely unaffected and a genuine talent. Probably one reason you never hear her on the Top 40.
