About

The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most influential alt-rock bands of the ’90s. Billy Corgan formed the band in 1988 with guitarist James Iha. In the 1990s alone, the band released classic albums like the four-time platinum Siamese Dream (1993) — which was ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest albums of all time — and the double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), which debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 and produced hit singles like “1979” and “Tonight, Tonight.” The Smashing Pumpkins have toured with acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses. They’ve made guest appearances on The Simpsons, won two GRAMMY Awards and have sold over 30 million albums.

    Amazing!!

    by Cat on 2024-01-31

When I closed my eyes, I was taken back to my younger days. They sounded fantastic live, just like 20 years ago. Love, love, love, this band. Thanks so much for the wonderful music and great memories..

    What we came here for

by Jay on 2023-11-13Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Definitely lived up to our expectations. Just the right mix of heavy, lesser-known stuff and the songs we fell in love with in the'90s. It's not easy to stay listenable for 3 decades, but Corgan brought the energy... and has tweaked the live sound to be so much better than I remembered it during the MelonCollie tour days.

Amazing Show from a 30yr fan!

    by J. C. on 2023-09-10

My 3rd time seeing SP, first time in ‘96 (infinite sadness tour), ‘00 (Machina/farewell tour) and now 2023. Show was absolutely amazing, was in GA standing, loud, heavy & great vocals. Yes Billy, James, Jimmy are older now but the music was perfect! Thank you SP for a nostalgic evening of great music!! ❤️🤘🏻

    Great concert!

by Aaron on 2023-09-09Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

The family came out (kids are in their early teens) and everyone enjoyed the Smashing Pumpkins, Interpol and Rival Sons. With Interpol we did think the mics could have been a bit louder (the voice didn't come through as well as the music) but it wasn't an issue for the Smashing Pumpkins part. A great light show as well to go with the music. A nice mix of old and new material as well for the Pumpkins.

    Smashing Pumpkins Ottawa show

by Rixtir on 2023-09-08Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Rival sons were great. I enjoyed them the most actually. Really good band. Great drummer. Interpol was not my cup of tea. Way too squishy for me. The younger crowd liked them a lot. The pumpkins seamed kinda tired. They all played well. The mix was not so good and was way too loud. 99 % of the Ltg was great, everything flown was nice, but some low level Ltg was too bright from my section. Blinding in fact. Jim chamberlain was great as always but his drum solo wasn’t nearly as good as his solo in Montreal late last year. That show was better in my opinion.

Smashing Pumpkins Good - Interpol Bad!!

by Jimmeh!! on 2023-09-07Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Smashing Pumpkins were exactly as expected. The sound was a little off (More vocals and Less instrumental would have been great) but overall they were so entertaining. Rival Sons were a good opener and should have been second. Interpol was god awful. I've never seen so many people hanging out in the concourse to get away from a band.

    Shut Up and Sing

by Stacey on 2023-09-06Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

I was impressed with Smashing Pumpkins after all these years. Nice to have Iha and Chamberlain back. However, Billy is still Billy. Iha asked Billy how he was doing and Billy pauses and says, Well, we're up here playing songs of my pathos."Ugh. The light show however was excellent. Also, you don't need to bring your kids to work. No one came to see your kids.

Really good for a big pumpkins fan

by Theo Fox on 2023-09-06Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Lots of energy, lots of yelling, very heavy, some cool covers and they played hummer, hype.

Great set list, middle-school garage band sound

by Ryan on 2023-09-06Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Its the concert set list I'd wanted to see for 25 years, but the sound mixer at the Canadian Tire Centre ruined everything that wasn't an acoustic ballad. All you could hear was rhythm guitar and bass drum, and a muddled mess of anything else sounding like it was fighting for a single channel. We wondered if it was our seats, so we walked from the side to the back center and stood in the entryway of different sections and they all sounded the same. What is odd is the first opening act didn't have this issue - but they had less inputs (vocal/instruments) than the 2nd opener or main band. Would love to see that set list again with a competent sound engineer running the board, but I'm not sure how fast I'm willing to drop my money on this venue for a concert experience again...
