    Great show despite missing players!

by Vin on 2023-09-18Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I had a great time at the show with my dad. Michael League was a great host and the band put on a flawless show as always. I was a bit disappointed that Larnell Lewis wasn't there, without notice. At least I didn't see any notice of his planned absence from the show and he's one of my favorite all time drummers I was looking forward to seeing. The venue was also great, although it was GA and I wish they informed guests that seating would be very limited or have a very limiting view. My dad is a senior and I felt very guilty having to have him stand beside me the whole show in order to get a decent view. Despite these things, we had a great time and these guys are well worth the ticket price!

Band was spectacular but the venue...

by Zojirushi on 2023-09-16Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

We enjoyed Snarky Puppy immensely. They are the best of the best and did not disappoint at all. The sound was great and the musicianship of every member of the band is fantastic. We were, however, a bit put off by the venue and pre-show experience. We had never been to the Commodore before and maybe we should have done our homework, but we were a bit surprised to find out a few things: The ticket was for 8:00pm and we arrived fairly early because the tickets were general admission and thought that was the show time. But it was for doors open. Fair enough. But going into the venue we discovered it was very limited seating so we had to stand the entire night. To top it off, there was no opener so we had to stand for 90 minutes with just pre show music on the PA before the band even took the stage. All told, including the effort to arrive early, we had to stand for more than 4hrs. A little more communication would have been appreciated. We were definitely not the only ones a bit put off by the late start. There is no shame in starting a concert at a reasonable time. The last time we saw Snarky Puppy it was also GA, at a different venue but we had seats so we didn't expect this kind of experience this time. Once the band started playing we (almost) forgot about the whole pre-show experience. We will definitely think twice before attending an event at the Commodore Ballroom again.

Great show and great first act. Snarky Puppy continues to amaze me, every one of them is a master of their instrument.

    Excellent show but overcrowded

    by Will B. on 2023-07-03

Snarky Puppy was amazing as expected but it was way too overcrowded. There could have been 10% less people and it would still have been too much. I have been to multiple events at MTelus but this time I was close to suffocating at all time in any part of the venue, so it was genuinely uncomfortable. 10/10 for the show and 3/10 for the venue/organization

    Exhilarating

    by Andrew Xu on 2023-07-03

There was a certain point an hour into the concert where everyone was so amazing and I was just hoping that they would stay there as long as possible because of how incredible the music was. At the end I even got an autographed poster from them and got a picture with Michael League. It was amazing

The Big Sound of Snarky Puppy

    by Carlito Montreal on 2023-07-03

Multi-time Grammy award winning group Snarky Puppy's return to Montreal was an event worth waiting for. The jazz fusion specialists played new material in support of their album Empire Central. Even with personnel changes, they continue to deliver epic compositions and orchestration. Their opening act was a pleasant surprise. The Yessaï Karapetian Trio displayed cohesive fusion prowess that would make one believe that they had been playing together for years. Amazingly enough, this evening was their first time playing together. Even more amazing was the fact that Mr. Karapetian only met his bassist...this week. Yet another reason to love this festival of new discoveries.

    Pouvez-vous installer une climatisation?

    by Rococo on 2023-07-03

Il fait beaucoup trop chaud dans cette salle. Je comprends qu'il faut que vous vendiez des boissons mais la température était à la limite dangereuse. 4 heures debout à 32 degrés… soyez responsable

    Bad venue

    by Nick on 2023-07-03

MTELUS oversells tickets, so the place is hot, too crowded, you don't see anything, and the sound is too loud, greasy and boomy. And as a result, people talk all the time. MTELUS is doing this on purpose, they sell beer for sure at a ridiculous price. That was not not a good experience for none of the people there, except for the people that just want to say "I was there". This is a Montreal thing. This is Snarky Puppy, with some of the best jazz musicians, we should be able to hear them as they should. I will never go again at MTELUS venue.
