Great fun clever musical
by HeatherDM1 on 2016-11-12St. James Theatre - New YorkAs a literary fan accompanied with my non-reader husband, we BOTH thoroughly enjoyed this show. Music and dancing are upbeat and dialogue is thoughtful and clever.

Now on Broadway through January 1 only! SOMETHING ROTTEN! is the hilarious Broadway smash from the director of ALADDIN and the co-director of THE BOOK OF MORMON!
This mash-up of 16th Century Shakespeare and 21st Century Broadway tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two playwrights stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar Will Shakespeare. When a soothsayer foretells the next big thing in theatre, the Bottom Brothers set out to write the world's very first MUSICAL! With the most singing, the most dancing, and the most gut-busting laughs on Broadway, it's something wonderful... something for everyone... It's SOMETHING ROTTEN!, "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years" (Time Out New York)!

We just loved the show. We loved all the inside references to other musicals. It was one of those shows where you started smiling as soon as the show started and didn't stop until well after the show was over. I highly recommend this to anyone else looking for great fun evening out.
Loved the entire show from beginning to end. So many jokes I'm sure I missed many!
Performance was phenomenal!! Highly recommended!!
Something Rotten! is the new musical to see by far. My face hurt I laughed so much. GO SEE IT!
A wonderfully, fantastic show, rich with double entendres, witty remarks and clever connections to Shakespearean works and the modern "MUSICAL" of the theatre today. Be prepared to laugh out loud and share your favorite lines long after the show ends. Extremely talented performers who presented wonderfully charming characters. A must see!
So much fun packed into the production. Never a dull moment. Laugh out loud!!!
We all loved it!! We felt like giving a standing "O" after the first big production number. Highly recommended. Two huge thumbs up.
Disappointing. Lame jokes. Forgettable music. And the only time ever in a NY theater where the crowd talked and TEXTED and Twittered all the way through. No staff came to tell them to turn off their devices
Second time at the show. Friend is going for a third time next week. Need I say more...
