I'd go see Soulfly if they played a Broken Down Shack in

by Lea Langelier on 2020-02-19The Gateway (SAIT) - Calgary

the Middle of a Swamp on a tiny Pacific Island during Hurricane Season. And think to myself, between songs, that some venues just aren't deserving of them. I don't know why the Gateway thought it would be a great idea to place a stage out of kilter - unless the entire venue is standing in front of the band's monitors, the sound is ... deplorable. To say the least. I would actually encourage SAIT to seriously consider renovating the venue if they want to keep attracting bands like Soulfly. Music appreciation is developing an appreciation for the music. Gateway doesn't appear to believe that it would apply in such cases.

Love the band - not the venue

by Me on 2020-02-18The Gateway (SAIT) - Calgary

I've only been to a venue this small twice. Its like taking speakers from a stadium and bringing them to a house party. Volume was over the top, which is hard to admit to. Of the 30 shows I been to in Calgary, the only other time volume killed the show was Hatebreed, in a ballroom at U of C. Also would have been good if security could have pulled the cracked out chick off the floor, before her boy friend had to drag her off the floor practically in a choke hold. I'm guessing she was on meth. Literally smashing heads, brawling on the floor and grabbing people around the neck. I saw Soulfly 10 years back. Saw them now. I'll see them again. Your music still rocks. Won't be at the gateway though.

Was looking to see Max Cavalera and the crew for quite a while and they boys did not disappoint. I wish just they would balance the sound a bit better, so Cavalera could be heard.

    Soulfly the Best

by Vovdey on 2014-02-10The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

One of the best concerts ever. Good opening bands in the beginning. Lots of crazy people and really really good heavy metal. Seems like the sound at garrick centre has improved too from the last time ive been there.

Havok was absolutely amazing. If you don't know who these guys are, you need to check them out ASAP. High energy thrash that doesn't stop. Soulfly, well nothing to be said there.. Amazing live and Max brings it on! Get in the pit!
