Spruce Meadows Lives Up To It's Stellar Reputation

by Irishgorman on 2012-09-21Spruce Meadows - Calgary

Once again Spruce Meadows presented most of the Worlds best horses and riders who gav e viewers the opportunity to see them perform live. This year the Stadium hosts did an excellent job of preventing those without tickets from setting up camp in other peoples' seats. The change in focus with the indoor exhibits to lifestyle rather than equine is disappointing. If we wished to see hottubs we would shop through the dealers, not look at them at an equestrian event!

    Masters Tounament

by Coventry on 2012-09-13Spruce Meadows - Calgary

Attended final day of the Masters Tournament, September 2012. Weather was perfect. Spruce Meadows is a wonderful, family oriented facility. Allowed to bring in own lunch and beverages. Volunteers and staff are so very helpful and friendly. Competitions were so very entertaining. On the way out the main gate, patrons were allowed to take as many flowers as they could carry. The Southern Family love to entertain and host the world. I love Spruce Meadows.

    World class competition and competitors

by maxedout on 2012-09-12Spruce Meadows - Calgary

I have been attending Spurce Meadows since it opened and have watched how they have developed it into a world class venue for show jumping. The 2012 CN Cup was no exception. A great array of riders and horses - I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Outstanding Sunday at the Masters

by FoxyCanuck on 2012-09-12Spruce Meadows - Calgary

Its been four years we have been attending The Masters. Second year purchasing tickets - prefer seat's closer to the ring. Just a class facility & a class event in Alberta. Only draw back, is its second year where the Equestrian tack venders is almost non existent. Just a few (English) venders and seriously high end. Teens don't have the luxury of paying $900 for boots lol Majority of clientele are youth and looking fwd to shopping at Spruce. Only suggestion is to get some more entry/mid level vendors with a wide selection.

    Fantastic

by JimBobBillyBob on 2012-09-12Spruce Meadows - Calgary

I have never been to Spruce Meadows or this type of event before, however I am now hooked and look forward to heading back next year. There is more than horses to this facility, such as a marketplace, galleries and exhibits; you can say that it's a cross between the Farmers Market and Crossroads Market. The grounds are huge, easy to get around and well manicured. I also found the staff to be quite friendly. I am however a bit disappointed that I've lived in Calgary for over 8 years and never visited Spruce Meadows....well that has now changed!

    Spruce was outstanding

by igig on 2012-09-11Spruce Meadows - Calgary

This was an amazing day of athelectism . A fabulous day to celebrate these majestic animals. The competions were exciting, the facility is first class. The fireworks were some of the best I have ever seen. All in all I would recommend going to Spruce Meadows" the Masters" to everyone- horse lover or not.

    The dream of a lifetime

by Dalkeith on 2012-09-11Spruce Meadows - Calgary

I have been a fan of show jumping forever and have watched televised events at Spruce Meadows with a great longing to actually be there. To experience it first hand this past weekend, not just the jumping events, but the whole Spruce Meadows venue was amazing. Anyone who appreciates the beauty of horses , and being with others who do will not be disappointed.

    Spruce Meadows - Holland Day

by kazb on 2012-09-10Spruce Meadows - Calgary

Event was fabulous, even though I am not a 'horsey' person! I will go next year! The only difficulty was getting the tickets, I purchased them online two days before the event, but there is no ticket collecting facility at the event or pre-printing of the tickets online. As i live in a small town with no agent, I had to drive 200kms the day before to collect the tickets and then drive the 400kms the next day to the event, as there was no agent close to the event either to make it possible not to miss the first couple of hours!

    Spruce Meadows is World-Class

by Gryffinberner on 2012-09-09Spruce Meadows - Calgary

We have gone to Spruce Meadows for many years and have seen it grow from a first-class small facility to a sprawling world class facility. It has not lost the inclusive, family feel, even with 80,000 people at the Saturday events. We also attended Friday night. I have facilitated sessions in their meeting rooms for Calgary Corporate clients and had the same experience. They never fail to delight. This time, I attended Spruce Meadows with 2 elderly seniors with very limited mobility and found the assistance from Spruce Meadows volunteers and staff to be excellent and friendly. The people mover carts from Lot 7, the handicapped parking area, to be efficient and flexible. Again, my parents were made to feel like welcome guests rather than an inconvenient burden with bulky walkers.
