Steven Curtis Chapman at DTE in Detroit

by Chriscoolcat on 2011-06-28DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

It was warm and beautiful weather in Michigan. The event began with Caleb - a good Christian rock band with good tunes and excellent musical skill featuring 2 of Chapman's sons and their friend . Steven Curtis Chapman joined in on the moving song "We will wait" and it touched the hearts of the crowd. Francesca followed with a surprising ukulele opening; and her melodies were catchy. Jars of Clay followed with their hits and their exuberant showmanship. They had the crowd on their feet and clapping. Steven Curtis Chapman sang many of his hits and entertained as well as encouraged and exhorted the believers. His testimonies and personal stories had the audience's full attention. He sang hit after hit from his repitoire of the last 20 years of excellent Christian music. The last part of the concert praise and worship songs (by other artists) were sung and an atmosphere of Christian worship pervaded. It was excellent entertainment as well as Christian fellowship. I highly recommend this concert.

Steven Curtis Chapman at DTE in Detroit

by Chriscoolcat on 2010-09-21DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The concert began promptly with our own Robin Sullivan from WMUZ Christian radio station welcoming us to the music theatre. Then Steven Curtis Chapman - unnannounced came out to introduce the opening band Caleb. The band includes two of his sons. They had a good hard rock sound but had some deep lyrics - especially as they explained the song "We will Wait" relating it to the death of their sister Marie Chapman. Their testimony of believing in God even when there are unanswered questions - impacted the crowd. Steven Curtis Chapman joined Caleb in this song and received thunderous applause. One after another hot song was sung by Chapman and the band. Over 15 years of top Christian Chapman music was covered. Chapman's energy and enjoyment of singing the songs ignited the audience to sing along and stand and praise. Steven Curtis Chapman shared his personal grief regarding his daughter and prayed for any and all who might have situations they couldn't understand - and encouraged them to trust and believe God. There was not a dull moment. This concert is awesome!
