Enjoyed the show very much. First time I've seen it live and it was so enjoyable! Took my parents for an anniversary present... they are long time fans but having only read the books and listened to radio show. They were so pleased to be able to see him live. And Hamiton Place is an excellent venue. Would only appreciate elevators being more clearly marked coming in (my dad uses a cane).
Wonderful show!!! Christmas Spirit and then some!!
We went to our fourth? fifth? edition of the Vinyl Café Christmas show this year and while the format remains similar from year to year, the show was as enteraining as any before it. The stories were funny (two new ones!), there was an excellent musical guest (Chic Gamine) and great music from regulars John Sheard and Dennis Pendrith (who I used to watch play with Murray McLauchlan many years ago). We always enjoy the gift giveaways and especially enjoyed John and Stuart's 2014 Christmas medley. Stuart McLean remains a host who is easy to listen to and to like, I think partly because he seems to enjoy the concert as much as we do. Even if you've never heard the Vinyl Café I expect you could enjoy these concerts! And to make the show just about perfect, after my wife bought John Sheard's CD, she turned around, and there he was. He asked if she'd like to have it signed and when she nodded, he did so in a heartbeat. Our smiles were even a little wider on the way out!
I purchased the tickets as a Christmas gift for family members. They loved it and hope to make it an annual Christmas tradition to take in his show every year before Christmas. They had only great things to say about the entire show. Only slight complaint was that the sound could have been a little louder but it didn't hinder their enjoyment of the show.
His Christmas show is fantastic. He draws in the whole audience when he is telling his totally amazing and amusing stories. The stories are made up but they are drawn from every day scenarios. Everyone in the audience can relate to them. The Chic Gamine group fit in well with the show. I love their music. What was amazing that Stuart managed to get me to sing along. It is not something I do. In summary, it was a fantastic show and my girlfriend and I were really glad we attended and it really put us in the Christmas spirit.
Stuart McLean Vinyl Cafe Christmas Show was fantastic and worth every penny. He is a master story teller with an amazing ability to pull you in, feeling part of the family.
Mclean was Fantastic! would recommend it to anyone.
Once again the Stuart Mclean Christmas show did not disappoint. The stories and music so wonderful. If you have never seen this show, you should. It has been for the last few years the start of the Christmas celebration for my husband and I. This year it was also my husbands birthday making it even more special. For my husband and I this may be our last Christmas show for a while. We will are being transferred to Corner Brook Newfoundland in a few months and I do not think that the show goes there much to my disappointment. Here is to a Happy New Year to one and all, Cheers.
Its difficult to imagine anything similar to this show. Story telling, music, humour, all done with a familiar feel and audience interaction that made everyone part of the performance.
