An enjoyable show...
by Sandra83 on 2013-12-04Winter Garden Theatre - TorontoAll in all, this show was entertaining to watch. If I was to criticize it from a dancer's point of view, there were some things lacking. Not all the couples were of the same tango or dance level in general. One of them in particular was not even close, and compensated heavily with a messy acrobatic performance and a completely see-through costume. Also, it would've been nice to see more group performances integrating the historical evolution of the dance as the program claimed to be doing, as well as real, traditional tango dancing (too much acrobatics). If I was to criticize this show from a solely entertaining point of view however, for people who don't care so much about dance technique and a realistic portrayal of the tango culture, this show is perfect for them. They'll enjoy it and go home thoroughly satisfied! Two of the couples were far above the rest in their dancing and performance skills and made up for the lack of some of the others. So if I was to nitpick, the show could've been better, but, honestly, I enjoyed myself and was happy to see that the non-dancing friends who came with us enjoyed themselves too.
