I surprised my husband with race tickets and pit passes for his 50th birthday. We travelled from Victoria, BC Canada and weren't disappointed! A very well-organized event and fanastic facility. So much to take in and do - we were pleased we had researched it very well in order to get the most out of the two days we were there.
A couple of comments for future improvements/efficiencies:
1) the ticket office seemed to be rather understaffed on Sunday morning - the busiest race day of the year for TMS. We stood in line for 45 mins to pick up our pit passes (and that was before the line went out the door). Two, and at times, three staff were trying to keep up with selling tickets (people humming and hawing when picking out their seats) and handing out credentials for the pits. It took us 4 minutes to get our credentials once at the counter. Two recommendations: a) have a full complement of staff on race day and b) have a separate line for the credentials for the pits.
2) We enjoyed the pit passes (not the garage passes) and were rather perplexed that there were no concessions for those not in the 'Garage'. After being in the pits for a couple hours, my husband went for water and this took a great deal of time - to leave the pits back through the tunnel, head up the stands to the concessions behind the seats, and then back again. Seems that there could be a small concession of some sort... or at least a bottled water stand.
Overall, our experience was awesome. Met alot of very friendly race fans, enjoyed the show out in the pits, enjoyed the race and enjoyed the overall friendly, warm hospitality of Texans! Thanks!
