It was a dream of mine for a long time to see them live and I’m real happy the opportunity occurred. Despite their ages, they were very entertaining and got me on my feet!

    Soul Stirring

by Kimma on 2019-12-01National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

We had never seen The Blind Boys live: absolutely amazing. The music is simply beautiful; but, the engagement and presence of both band and audience made the night. Completely memory making, bone shaking and breathtaking.

So grateful I had the opportunity to see the Blind Boys of Alabama when visiting Ottawa. Amazing human beings who still (80 years later) put on a great show!! My soul was smiling :)

    Winnipeg BBQ and blues fest.

by Rivstr on 2017-08-15Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

My review is for the BBQ and Blues fest. Music was fantastic, plenty of places to sit and eat, great music good displays, substandard food. In the future they need to hire a bbq restaurant or an experienced outfit to handle the food. The coleslaw and jalapeno cornbread was good but the rest that should have been hot was cold, tough and definitely not up for any awards, unless maybe if you are feeding a dog. They would be much better to invite a couple of specialty food trucks to set up for the event. The selection was poor, a hot dog cart would be a welcome improvement. And the beverage selection, can we not find a local brewery to supply the beer! We can always enjoy a sugary cooler or a shot with sugary pop, they ran out of diet coke at 6:00. Maybe next year they can include a blood sugar monitor or scrap the BBQ and call it the Winnipeg blues street festival. One you have been there the BBQ is not going to bring anyone back.
