A magical evening

Brian and his world class drummer Terry Clarke and bassist Neil Swainson sounded like they were a trio that has played together for years. The ambiance of the Fourth Stage was warm and friendly. The crowd were obviously long time supporters of Brian as they applauded long and loud at the end of each tune. To say that Brian Browne is a Canadian musical icon is an understatement. His playing is musical, filled with lots of nuance and many twists and turns throughout the evening, I know Brian and he values his audience so he plays music that is accessible and audience friendly. Classics like Satin Doll, What the World Needs Now, Scarborough Fair, and Ode to Billy Joe made up part of a diverse set list. There were also some great blues flavoured tunes and a gorgeous bass-nova song as well. The other part of the show that I really enjoyed was Brian's interaction with the audience, the man has a wicked sense of humour which he displayed when he stepped up to the mic between songs to talk a little bit about the next tune or just talk about music and his career.
